Alcohol Poisoning

WOW! We just came from a family pot luck dinner at church to celebrate the end of CCD for the year (7th and 8th graders). My friend was asking if her older son (10th grade) could spend the night at our house on Sat. because they were going out. I had to ask why because she had left him home plenty of times before. Turns out he was at a party last weekend - a 9th graders parents were out for the night and the kid had a party.She doesn't know where the alcohol came from but the kid who had the party almost died from alcohol poisoning - he had been drinking for about 2 hours!

This is SO SCARY!! DS17 knows this boy and has played basketball with him. Definitely time for an extra chat tonight. You really want to trust your teens but this is more common than we realize! Make sure you know where your kids are and if there's a parent home!!!

I don't think teens realize how easy someone can get alchol poisioning and if you know where they are at all times, trust me they can get to alchol. Or if they get to college it will be around. I have seen many many kids with alchol poisioning when I was in college and took many to the ER myself as an R.A. unfournately many think that you can only get alchol poisioning from hard liquors but this isn't true.

kid across the street from me had a party when she was in high school and the ambulance had to come take her to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.

I've had LOTS of friends get taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning...more last year than this year, which is interesting, since I thought ASU would be a lot worse. It seems like high school gets worse all the time.
