Alaskan Cruise Question

^^ for me it would let to much light in. I actually have to completely black out my windows at home to get to sleep. since the sun never really went down, or always kind of light outside I had issues. some people are more sensitive to the light than others, was just trying to mention it just in case thing because most people arent used to it being pretty light out all hours.
I'm an black out sleeper also. If I need to get up early I just don't close the shades. Can not sleep with any light at all. Hotels always have that little space by the window that lets in light always wakes me up. Always looks like it's closed when I go to bed, but then that sliver of light just nags me awake.
There is a lot of light in Alaska.

We went in June, I think that the Starboard side got a MUCH better glacier view. No ship has made it down Tracy Arm this year so they have been going down Endicott Arm. The ship only turned once, but the starboard side got about 3 times as longer as the port side and got to see the glacier first.

This was our experience as well. We were near the Aft deck too so we bounced to the AFT deck, enjoyed our own veranda at Starboard and went up on the top deck and deck 4 throughout the day (occasionally had rain showers so moving to different areas for different views kept us warm and dry!).

Check facebook for your cruise also. We are sailing to alaska on the wonder in May 2017 and i found our ship cruise page and was able to sign up for the FE on that page.
