For those that have cruised in June, How close did you get to the Glacier in Tracy Fjord? What kept the ship from getting closer, ice or the seals giving birth?

Thanks,

We were on it in late June (the 29th) and got pretty darn close. I was surprised that we were so close to it. How close in comparison to other times? I have no idea but the captain seemed pretty excited about it. They did say the cruises before didn't get as close. It was due to ice in the water.

Another way to look at it: I would go again without worry of how close we got.

Would the ice be less in July allowing you to get closer? If you cant afford a veranda is a good spot to view on deck 4 to avoid the crowds on the upper deck?

Yes, the 4th deck is a great spot. There are plenty of chairs and blankets to keep you warm. Also, it's a long day so the crowds come and go on the top deck. We went in early June and got pretty far in. There were a lot of seals on the ice.
