Hello, we will be joining you as well.

There will be me David, DW Tanya, DD15, & DD 10. We are in 5513.

:welcome: aboard. Hey Robin - looks like we will be keeping you busy! (Got to cut my nails - can't type today)

Hi All,

Didn't get a chance to read through all the thread and "meet" everyone, but DH & I booked this cruise today!!!!!

It will be me (Maryann) (51)& DH (Tom) (51) Cabin # 6580. We'll be celebrating our 34th Anniversary! This is going to be great!!!!

Mary Ann, we are discussing sitting together so that all the waiters can sing to us! LOL ;) When is your anniversary? It will be our 21st "official" anniversary but our civil anniversary was 5 years before that. Don't ask.

Laura (eeyorelvr 10) & JoAnn (jlawll),

Are you both booked on this cruise, too???? AWESOME!!!!!! We've got a little Med reunion going on here. Anyone else from our Med cruise?

:woohoo: Med Reunion. :scratchin - now to get some transfers over to our thread. I wanted to go in August but April will be starting her 1st year of college in August so that has to be a no go. (Maybe)

:welcome: aboard Sandra.

By the way, did I mention that Steve and I did this (non Disney of course) back in 2000? We were celebrating my FIL's retirement and my "retirement" also. We hit the same ports and it was about the same time come to think of it. :scratchin See the theme? :)

Anyway, we were blessed with awesome weather, no rain and while I "forgot" to book something at I believe it was skagway, it was absolutely no problem getting a local to give us a private tour. Maybe not as nice accommodations but heck, a van is a van and it was only 5 of us and we only paid about $100 bucks for a private tour. Got dropped off in plenty of time to make the ship and even shop what was open. It was an evening visit.

Ketchikan was dry and warm and I finally got my warm jacket that maybe I can use on this cruise - not too bad just about 9 years later. Paid $150 dollars. It was our first big splurge on non-essential items. (But it sure felt like an essential at the time.)

It did rain a bit on the inside passage but it was more of a drizzle and light. Nothing like the rain we got on the PC last August.

:banana::banana::banana:

Did I mention that Alaska has WONDERFUL "CANDY" opportunities? I got my FAVORITE (still to this day) tanzanite ring here. I think we paid 1/4 of the price we would have for the same ring in the Caribbean for 1/2 the stone.

Oh and for Alaska season, Mexican jewelry shops (i.e. - Tanzanite and Diamonds International, Royal Jewelers, etc) tend to ship their best stuff to AK) so start saving up that $$ and those disappointments from your hubby and cash them in in AK. ;):lmao::rotfl2:

Hm....wonder if that just made me the enemy of DIS-men?

Is anyone else on Facebook???

Feel free to friend me. Just mention that you're going to Alaska!!

Also, I created a Facebook group for our cruise!! I've made it a closed group, so that I (or whoever else I give the power to) has to approved any new members. Gotta keep out the riffraff. :rotfl: I'm not, however, going to limit this to just DISers, so if your friend or family is on the cruise and FBs, but doesn't DIS, feel free to give them this link:

Disney Wonder Cruise to Alaska 07/19/2011

Good to hear from you Laura. Our real anniversary is Aug. 20th but Aug is when I get ready for "back to school" so we don't do more than maybe a weekend trip then. Plus I like a vacation smack dab in the middle of summer so when we get home, I still feel like I've got summer left (especially with the cooler temps in AK). :lmao:

I haven't heard from our DU Travel Agent yet (didn't expect to), but I've been able to look up the 3 reservations that we transferred and have some information. Like the important....yes, we are on this cruise!!

Hi! I am not far from you in Merrick, NY. When the time comes, we have to discuss flights.

thanks Tom.I did not bother with it because it looked great already!

Hi and welcome aboard to the everyone i missed this morning when I went to take a much needed nap. 4:30am and the name Robin should never be used in the same sentence.

Look over your info on page one to be sure that I have what you want and that it is correct.

We still need to come up with a name and also a picture to mark this cruise so we can print it out for our cabin doors....who's good at that. Tom I know that you make name tags....anyone else good at things like that?

Hi! I am not far from you in Merrick, NY. When the time comes, we have to discuss flights.

Absolutely! A friend of mine's DS used to live in Seattle and she (she lives in Merrick as a matter of fact) said that it is much cheaper to fly to Seattle and take a hydrofoil over to Vancouver. I'll find out more as the time gets closer. The airfare to Vancouver is really steep. Seattle for this year was about $180 round trip from JFK for the same time. Luckily we have some options.

Thanks Robin. Mine looks good except DH & I will be 53 yrs. young in 2011. ;) Oh, and we have late dining. Years married is correct. I guess I don't want to age anymore.

PS. I am the least creative person on the planet but I can help out with anything, like a Dis meet on board, etc.

Count us in!!

Me - Kelly (47)
DH - Larry (47)
DS - Zach (21)
DS - Trevor (20)
Late dinner seating

Seems so funny putting those ages in. My boys were only 10 and 11 the first time we cruised! Glad they have never outgrown Disney!

Don't have room numbers handy, but we have a 5C and 11B on the 6th floor directly across from each other (aft).

I have no idea how I am going to make it the next 600 and something days...I am already so excited!

Welcome Kelly:cool1:

So I have thought of some more names to throw into the pile......

July 19th, 2011 Cruising Alaska where a good tan is hard to find.

July 19th 2011 Cruising Alaska where the Polar Bears are COOL

I will have to check out the hydrofoil.

looking at flights again and they have gone up...last week i looked at flights at around $350 from San Diego to Vancouver. Duration of flight anywhere from 4 hrs to 8 hrs.

Looking today they are 6-9 hrs...in July 2010 and are around $500+ per person:eek:

whey in the heck is it more to fly from San Diego Ca. to Seattle or Vancouver than it is from Newark N.J and the same amount of flying times :confused3

Talk about airlines being fickle. You would figure in this economy they would want to get people to fly....not make them go :scared1:

So for the 5 of us we are looking at at least $2500-$2700 to fly :rolleyes:Guess July is all that in Alaska and peak season. Same with the cruise...July is the highest amount to cruise...maybe that is why so many empty spots in July:lmao: If you look on the thread that shows how many from here have booked the other cruise dates for Alaska are full we just have a few of us on there....

So either were all idiots or we are the cream of the crop.....I vote for cream of the crop:rotfl:

Have any of you priced your flights? I know many are going to fly to Seattle...but not much difference in price for us to do that. I saw someone post that they would be charged from the Midwest...$180 to fly into Seattle....so where is my $180 flight :dance3:I want one of those.

Wow just checked Expedia and that is even worse...$600 a person..UGH and this is a year out that I checked...

We are in for this cruise:woohoo::yay::cool1::cheer2:

I need to go and catch up on everything since I posted the other day. I can't wait to start planning this.

Or maybe: The Wonder of an Alaskan Summer Nights Dream
Ohh I really like that one!!

Just a heads up...I am more than happy to organized the FE swaps and Secret Mickeys if no one else is interested.
Kim I think you just signed yourself up;)

Another vote for cream of the crop!:cool1:

I haven't decided if we will fly into Seattle or Vancouver yet. On one hand, it would be fun to see Seattle and then take the train into Canada. Then on the other hand, it would be nice to just get there! I guess I have a whole year to go back and forth, but in the end, it will all be a matter of what the airfare is running!

I would love to use more DVC points (we booked our entire cruise on points) and stay at either the Intrawest Vancouver or Whistler, but I just read that you can only book 4 months out if booking for fewer than 6 nights. I'm not sure if we would even get a room at only 4 months, so it looks like I am definitely going to have to have a back up.

How many more days?!:teacher::car::music::surfweb:

That is true....that is why we will most likely book elsewhere and see what the cut off date will be in that hotel and hopefully it will be less than what the Intrawest will be. One can only hope:santa:
