Alaska Excursion Planning

I am looking to do cruise to Alaska in 2017. How long are you in each port? Is it possible to do more than one excursion? What would you recommend?

On the dcl website you can see the ashore times under the itinerary. I have not gone on my Alaska cruise yet but in reading trip reports it seems possible to do two excursions in one port depending on what you are interested in. What are you interested in? Who are you traveling with?

Hmm I just went to the dcl website and it has been upgraded so I am having trouble finding the times the way they used to be listed! You can read trip reports and look at navigators for an idea though

• Skagway 7:15am to 7:45pm
• Juneau 6:45am to 4:45pm
• Ketchikan 11:15am to 7:45pm
• Vancouver 8am arrival

Don't forget the bonus port of Vancouver. You want to stay for a few days to a week to enjoy all the sights/opportunities!

First, thank you for the information. My DH and I were suppose to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with this cruise in 2017. He recently passed away from cancer. We (my DS and DDIL) are planning to go ahead with trip anyway in his memory. Based on what I can find on DCL site, I want to do the Best of Juneau, Annette Island Cultural, and Best of Skagway. DS and DD may choose to do a more different and more active excursion. The Best of tours are 6 to 7 hr each, but the Annette Island is only 4 hours. What would be recommend for the other 4 hours in Ketchikan? If vacation time permits, I, possibly we, may swing down to Disneyland for a few days while we are on this side of the country before heading back to OH.
