ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

On the 30th we have our Meet and Greet...

we are meeting afternoons (those who can can) for a short get together to share....

So here's my questions....(and I probably asked it but haven't finished rereading our board to make sure I wrote everthing down) but I can give out the FE at any time? and also confirming that I can do more than one drop and that I can do either per person or per cabin?

Just trying to tie up my moose ends:rotfl:

Yes, you can do your FE whatever day you chose or multiple times. (probably better to do before the last evening, since all the FE will be packed away----that's the worst thing taking the door decorations down--the door really looks plain after it's been all colorful all week:() Your gift could be either a stateroom gift or individual gifts--there are no rules to it, it's just to add something fun to the cruise and to give our eyes a break from all the :surfweb: we do:lmao:

Don't mean to laugh, thanks for the thought! :) but I will NEVER get him into a tie.

So I suggested he wear his nice Aloha Shirt and a jacket over it to go in. If he gets uncomfortable, he can take the jacket off while he eats and then put it back on when we are ready to leave. He seemed kinda okay with this....Being retired he doesn't even wear Aloha Shirts that much anymore.

Bob--my Mom's DH the night we had Palo dinner hadn't been sitting down for too awful long. I think we may have had the bread with the sauces. I looked up at him and he was taking his tie off (it was just a clip on) and I just shock my head at him. He said I see at least 3 people without a tie on so mine is gone. I teased Mom and said okay for Alaska you are at a different table than me:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

G'night. Glad you all were sucessful getting your stuff booked tonight:goodvibes

That was very easy!!! Just said I didn't make a brunch at Palo. Wasn't sure I wanted it. And when I went back to do it, gone!! I'm fine. And I got my PALO DINNER for the day & time I wanted. There some Magic!!! And second Magic I was moved to MAIN dinning. I really wanted that with the kids. YEAH!!!!

HiMagicFun : looks like you and I have the same pans for Juneau!!

Day 3: Tracy Arm - Dinner at Palo
Day 4 : Liarsville & Samon Bake and Musher Summer Dog Camp
Day 5: Mom & DS doing Glacier Trek - Booked on own
Me & DD Blue Bus to Mendenhall Glacier on own, maybe tram
Then we all meet up at 2pm for a little shopping and the town
Day 6: Bears of Misty Fjord seaplane and landing - Booked on own
Me & DS - Mountain Point Snorkle
Mom& DD - Disney Lumberjack show

**Might change Liarsville & Summer Dog sled to do on our own through Klondike Tours. Its a big savings and Cindy had been so helpful and great.

Oh boy! I know what you mean about going back in to make the ressie for Palo...when I saw that there wasn't much left I told my Mom I am just gonna book for the two of you ~ If we can get me in great, if not at least you can go and enjoy. Just hoping to be on the waitlist for the tea.

We will have to coordinate! I don't know what my parents plans are since this will be their 4th or 5th trip to Alaska but their first Disney cruise. Will look forward to sharing once we get closer (maybe even that first DIS meeting to coordinate). Mom isn't as bad as I am in planning - I am like that girl on Willie Wonka who wants it NOW!:rotfl:

Palo is brunch for 2 and only on Sept 1 (time was 11a or 11:30a) so I grabbed that for my parents and will see about getting a ressie for the 3 of us on board.

I also got my dinner ressie for the three of us for my Dad's Bday night in case we cant get the brunch ressie on board.

The excursions are open so as planned I am just gonna wait and see ~ will probably do my "on own" stuff like I planned....

We weren't able to get a brunch reservations for 4 so we made two reservations for 2 at the same time and will hope they can put us together when we get on board.

PJ, I had to do that when I booked brunch also--table for 4 and a table for 2 only way to get 6:)

Well, I need to get myself moving and head downtown to the stores today, hope everyone has a great day:goodvibes

Well it looks like we got what we were shooting for. DW stayed up wayyyyyyyyyyyy past her bedtime:surfweb: Palo dinner day 1 and Palo brunch day3 White pass in Skagway and Lumberjack show. Just the type of vacation we need.:)

Here are our plans for now:

At Sea Day - Palo Brunch

Skagway - Yukon Suspension Bridge, City, and White Pass Railway with entire family
- Glacier Discovery by Helicopter (DH and I)

Juneau - Whale Watching private charter with Rum Runner Charters who will drop us at Mendenhall Glacier then we'll take city bus back

Ketchikan - Rain Forest Island Adventure (for now - looking for a more active excursion than just sight-seeing that a 5 year old can do as well. Unfortunately, none of the excursions allow time for Lumberjack show too)

At Sea - Palo Dinner

I would appreciate any feedback from those more in the know if something catches your eye as not being a good choice. Thanks!

Thanks Linda, I like Dreams better than Remember the Magic:)

Did they do the adult shows in the Walt Disney Theater or the Rockin' Bar D? I guess it depends on the ratio of kids there are onboard? The last couple I have been on there were less than 200 kids on the ship.

All of the adult shows were in Rockin' Bar D

Juneau - catch the blue bus to Mendenhall Glacier. Do the visitor center, hike to the falls. Return to town and shop at Glacier Smoothie Soaps and Alaska Fudge Co. If the weather is good, head up Mt. Roberts, have lunch and check it out. If the weather is not good, have lunch in town and do the Alaska Museum.

Can you tell me about the Blue Bus? My brother wants to do Mendenhall on his own and spend most the day up there hiking and stuff. Thanks!

The blue bus is a direct bus to the glacier. I am still trying to find out the time schedule (when it first leave and last one back). They run something like every 20 minutes or so and are $8 o/w. I decided not to do the whale excursion because I wanted to see the Glacier. There are a number of different hikes (and hike levels) and things to do. I have the page link on other computer and will post it later for you. I don't plan on bringing hiking boots (no space in luggage for it and my souvenirs :rotfl:) so the hikes I am planning to do will need to be relatively easy (running shoes).

Thanks, I was at the Mendenhall Glacier on the first Alaskan cruise on the Wonder, so I was able to go to it on our tour (we went ziplining also), but my brother mentioned he wanted to spend most of his time there hiking and I hadn't heard about the blue bus. If you find out the schedule and info, I would definitely be interested in finding out what you hear. I think that would be perfect for him and he could do whatever he wanted that way.

Okay, found it. It is at mighty great trips. Here is what it says:

MGT’s BLUE GLACIER EXPRESS
$16 per person roundtrip
This is our no frills experience offering direct transportation 14 miles from downtown to the Mendenhall Glacier. Transportation run every 30 minutes beginning at 9:00am till 6:00pm on most days. Let our Bright Blue Bus take you out to the “Blue Ice Cube.”

Sounds like that will work perfectly!

I shoulda thought of that sooner. I thought you could only book one brunch, one tea and one dinner per room? Gonna try later...forgot my reservation number to log in so gotta do it at home.

Thanks for the beginning and end time. I was hoping it was earlier since we get in around 8am and we could be at the Glacier by 9. Will need to adjust my schedule a bit. I am hoping for at least 4 hours at the glacier - about 2hr for the visitor center and the lookout there and then 2hr for hike(s) (at least the one to the falls).

You didn't see where I said that last night:)

Were they packed? That's probably a very goofy question

The rest of my party are taking this to the glacier also, I like the fact that they can stay as long as they want. DCL only gives 45 minutes and that is really short:)

If you log in DCL and go to Castaway Club and go to my cruises, it will pull all your past and current bookings up and then you can access the cruise planning for our cruise:)
