ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

I am glad that the Spirit is there early in the day and not us. Looks like we are sharing the port slip that day. It will be nice to "sleep in" one morning:)

Just heard back (they must be busy)

Paula,

You'll be on the same bus as Tracy. It is a 21 passenger bus, with Barry as the driver. He has been giving tours in Skagway for at least ten years now and is very good! Dave's bus is full already. You can have lunch of soup and sandwiches, but it is not included in the $79 each cost. The $89 with lunch included is only for groups of 12 or more.

Decide the day of, if you want to take the train!

You'll look for a Dyea Dave sign when you get off the ship or a white bus with Dyea Dave written on it at 7:45am.

Bring your passports! You are booked for six!
Becky

Tracy, how many are in your party? (3?), with my 6 , we are at 9. Anyone else care to join us?

I can't believe I'm checked in for this cruise! It will be here before we know it. This is my first as "gold," and the first time I have ever seen long lists of open Palo brunch, and only time I have ever seen what Palo Tea looks like! Still lots of openings this morning, so I hope it stays that way until you all get everything you want. I'm so excited!!!

So they said the bus is full? If that is so I guess the rest of my group will have to find something else to do that day.

does anyone think there will be any advantage to being on the last Alaska DCL that departs for the year and out of Vancouver? Just started thinking about maybe they would be dumping excess inventory or giving a gift similar to inaugural cruises. . .(well maybe i should say "wishful thinking". . .)

I'm a bit worried things will go the other way - they'll be sold out of the Alaska logo stuff - esp 2XL shirts (Scott's a big guy)

Any thoughts?

I've booked the Best of Skagway; Whale Watching, Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake (Adult Only Departure); and the Bering Sea Fisherman's tour. My friend thinks it would be cool to have Palo brunch on the Tracy Arm day so that's booked.

Palo, has quite a bit of availabilty
Brunch-- Reservations available for parties of 1-2, 3-4.
High Tea--Reservations available for parties of 1-2, 3-4.
Dinner--Reservations available for parties of 1-2, 3-4, 5-6.

Can you tell us on which days please? We won't be Gold until we step off the Dream next week so plan to make reservatiosn ASAP before silver booking opens on June 1.

My mom and sister may be interested in joining as they are looking for a city tour but didn't like the reviews of the DCL excursions from inaugural cruise. I must have missed the details of your plans, could you share please?

These excursions show no availibilty for our cruise:
3 Port Package for Families
3 Port Package for Young Families
3 Port for Adventure Seekers
3 Port Package for Flight Seeing
Glacier Dog Musher for a day--Juneau
Glacier View Bike & Hatchery--Juneau
Whale Watching & Salmon Bake--Juneau

Since you can make reservations already, may I ask if you have tried to reserve two excursions on the same day and, if so, how far apart they are? I did call DCL yesterday but the person I talked to did not give me much confidence that he really knew the answer. He suggested I call back today with the Port Adventures folks are there (which I will do when I have time).

I think that your excursions usually have to have a least a 2-hr break in between. That is to give you a chance to get from one excursion to the next. They take into consideration possible delays from the first booked excursions.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Brenda,

The DCL rep I spoke with stated 1 hour to ensure we had enough time to get back on-board the Wonder to meet the next excursion group and then get off the ship again. I wondered if this is really necessary or if it's possible to arrange to meet the group on the dock.

Hi, Everyone.

It is good to be "GOLD". We were able to book all the Palo reservations that we could book for the times that we wanted. Also, we have booked the Exotic Rasul (first sea day), Liarsville Gold Rush in Skagway and the Alaska Salmon Bake, Glacier and Hatchery (Adults Only Depature) in Juneau.

We have High Tea booked for the Tracy Arm's day. Then, we Palo dinner reservations at 6:00 pm on the Skagway day. And we saved Palo brunch for our last at sea day. MY DH thought that would be a nice way to finish the curise.

Good luck to all in making your reservations.

Congrats! Can't wait to be there next week!

Is High Tea offered every sea day? What range of time is it offered? I'm assuming afternoon?

Tea is offered on the sea days and Tracy Arm, and there is only one time; 3:00 pm.

We have never done tea before, but thought we would give it a try.

Same here!

This may be a dumb question, but does Palo offer the same dinner menu each night? I read other threads where folks have more than one Palo dinner booked and I realized I wasn't sure of the answer.

Okay, this is what I noticed when trying to book 2 excursions for the same day. I have an excursion that ends at 11:30 am. When I try to book an excursion for 1:00 pm, there is no conflict listed.

However, when booking an excursion at 12:45 pm, a message comes up stating that this conflicts with another excursion.

So, it looks like if the excursion end and start times are at least 1 1 /2 hours apart, there is no problem with booking them. Anything less and an conflict message appears.

We've had Palo on different nights as well and I think the menu items are different, if I remember correctly.

Now, we have to decide exactly when we want to leave and if necessary, book hotel. But first, the flight. YIKES!!!!

No Tracy, there is one bus that is full. Our bus isn't. We are at less than 12 and it will seat 21

There is usually a fish of the day and another meat selection. But their menu is the same. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/dining/palo/
