Alaska ~ 8/13/12 ~ Midnight Sun Mouseketeers!

There are no parameters unless everyone thinks we should set some! My plan was for our family to deliver our the FE gifts all at once on a day when not much has landed in our FE. We plan on giving each person on the list some sort of small gift. We will deliver the gifts once, I wasn't planning on giving out multiple gifts on multiple days. But everyone is different, so I'm thinking just do whatever you want! How does that sound?

The way I usually organize my gifts is to put each on in its own little clear bag labelled with the name. Then I put the little bags in a ziploc with the stateroom number on it. So, when we go around delivering the gifts, my kids are holding onto those ziploc bags. When we get to a stateroom to deliver the gifts, we simply pull out the little bags and put them in the pockets. I then am able to reuse the big ziploc bags for stuff that we accumulate from everyone else!

we also have a gift for each room and planned on delivering via pixie dust on one day vs multiple days. (too hard to obtain that much dust!- the pixies are stingy!)
it could be fun just to have each stateroom decide on their own to deliver on whichever day is good for them.... that way it fits into our excursion schedule and will be a surprise...
so looking forwards to going on this trip, so little time to get everything done!

We are driving up from southern California. We are leaving the 10th, and hope to be in Seattle by the 11th. We will stay two nights at the Seattle Hilton downtown. Thinking we'll hit up Pike's Place market on Sunday and maybe the space needle. We'll see how tired the kids are...

BTW, are we going to all meet up on the 13th somewhere on the ship? Last cruise we had a DIS meet at the Promenade Lounge at 4 or something like that. It was nice to all meet up after all these months of planning!

We are flying in a few days early on the 8th -- wanted to spend some time in Seattle first since I have not been before. We will be at the Edgewater and have some fun things planned for before the cruise -- a day in Victoria, Pike Place Market, Seattle Center -- DD is especially excited for a Chocolate Indulgence tour we are doing with Savor Seattle (OK, I'm excited too).

I would definately be up for meeting on the 13th for a cocktail if others want to . . .

We are flying in the day before the cruise and staying overnight at the holiday inn. Can't wait to start packing. It will be here before we know it-Whoot!

I'm all for having a meet and greet on the Wonder on our day of embarkation! That way we can attach names to faces from that point on during our cruise. I also have something fun that I can pass out to everyone that shows up (hint: it is a game that people can do at their own pace over the course of the whole week on board!)

The Promenade Lounge at 4pm is a good idea. Does anyone else have a suggestion as to a good venue and time to meet? I have also posted this question on the main cruise thread to see if I can get a lot of suggestions!

Welcome..welcome. We are all very excited! Disney cruises are the best!

Hi, fellow cruisers!

We're coming a little late to the party, but I have an excuse - we just got back from our first Adventures by Disney trip a week and a half ago, and all the space in the planning part of my brain was taken up with that trip until now! :lmao: I know someone will ask - it was the Spirit of America tour, and except for the worst heat wave in DC history, was really fabulous - I would travel ABD again in a heartbeat!

But back to our next adventure, I'm getting really excited for the Alaska cruise! We booked on our MR in 2/11, so I really don't have an excuse for not joining this thread earlier...

We are: Preedymtnwest: Me (Kristina), DH (Jeff), DS15 (Shaner), and DS11 (Skyler). We live in Washington (State) and are SOOOOOO excited to DRIVE :drive: to the cruise ship on the morning of the cruise and not have to fly anywhere this time!!!:cool1: We are in 6610, and have 2nd seating. This is our 4th DCL; we did two 3-night Bahamas, and the MR February 2011. We really liked the 7-day cruise so much better than the shorter one, even though we missed Castaway Cay on the MR. We got to know the ship really well and do a lot of things we just didn't have time for on the 3-night.

Traveling with us is my DSis (Susan), her DH (Mike), and their DD13 (Katie) and DS8 (Christopher). They live even closer to the port than we do. They are adjoining in 6608, and also have 2nd seating. This is their 3rd DCL (they did the others with us, except for the 2nd 3-night). We love to travel with them and have a fabulous time.

I know we're too late for FEs, and that's just fine with us this time; with my previous trip and all the planning that went into it (we added an extra week where we were on our own - the ABD part was EASY PEASEY), I just didn't get my act together soon enough. HOWEVER, please don't be confused by the FEs we'll hang outside our door for decoration - I made them for a previous cruise and just can't stand to not display them when we're with people who will appreciate them!

I really truly just looked up this thread tonight and haven't had a chance to read through all the posts, but intend to. I'm usually quite the planner, but have not even chosen excursions yet, so am still trying to read up on all of those and figure out if there are any worthwhile ones left! If I had a cool $8000 laying around, I'd certainly do the ABD add-on, but just couldn't justify it after our previous trip. :rolleyes2

We've done meets before just as you've suggested, in the Promenade lounge, and that seems to work well. We'd love to meet up.

Well, better get back to excursion research... <sigh> Looking forward to meeting you in 3 weeks!

Welcome Preedymtnwest and crew! we will be so glad to meet you all...
Only 2.5 more weeks to go! YAY

I posed the question on the main board about what is the preferred place to do an embarkation day Meet and Greet. Here is the thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2962875

Looks like the general consensus there is to meet in the Promenade Lounge. So let's do it there! How does 3pm sound?

I think Promenade Lounge sounds great! It seems like 3pm is the best time before the chaos of emergency drill and unpacking begins

count us in we will see you all wherever

Our Midnight Sun Mouseketeers will be having a Meet and Greet at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on Embarkation Day. Hope to see you there!

Just curious if anyone has researched the best/cheapest way to get to and from the cruise terminal. We are flying in a few days before and leaving a few days after the cruise and staying with friends on both ends. So the airport/hotel transfer method doesn't really apply to us....any thoughts appreciated. :) Lisa

p.s. just received in the mail the Fish Extender I had made for us! Sooo excited!!!!!

My family is just planning on using a taxi service from the airport to the Sheraton and from the Sheraton to the Port. On disembarkation day I purchased DCL transfers to go from the Port to the SEATAC.

We leave for Alaska in TWO WEEKS!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:
