We sail for Alaska 5 weeks from today!

DH and I both drink coffee and both kids drink hot chocolate! We'll need the warm stuff up in Alaska!

Question: how are we doing it? Are we each taking a day? Are we delivering goodies every day? Wasn't sure what our parameters were. Thx!

There are no parameters unless everyone thinks we should set some! My plan was for our family to deliver our the FE gifts all at once on a day when not much has landed in our FE. We plan on giving each person on the list some sort of small gift. We will deliver the gifts once, I wasn't planning on giving out multiple gifts on multiple days. But everyone is different, so I'm thinking just do whatever you want! How does that sound?

The way I usually organize my gifts is to put each on in its own little clear bag labelled with the name. Then I put the little bags in a ziploc with the stateroom number on it. So, when we go around delivering the gifts, my kids are holding onto those ziploc bags. When we get to a stateroom to deliver the gifts, we simply pull out the little bags and put them in the pockets. I then am able to reuse the big ziploc bags for stuff that we accumulate from everyone else!

Since there aren't that many families participating I think I'll have room to pack them for the trip in one of our duffle bags. On previous cruises I sent them ahead of time in a box to the Port. But I'm not doing that because it is out of the Port of Seattle instead of Port Canaveral and I wasn't sure how to do it. I did read on one of the threads that one person on a previous Alaska cruise sent her FE's ahead of time the hotel in Seattle that they were staying at.

We are thinking of flying in to Seattle morning of the cruise (direct flight from DTW, arriving at 10:30AM). Is that too crazy? (I know the DCL-booked flights would have us arrive around then.) I'm just not sure that trying to fly in Sunday night, get 2 hotel rooms, get transportation to the port in the morning would be worth it, especially because it costs significantly more.

@ Liz: Thank you so much for arranging the brunch! It will be super fun!

@Allison: Are their flights after the one you might take that would still get you to the port in time if the one you are booked on gets delayed or cancelled? You'd be taking a risk, but only you can weigh the benefits versus the risks. Personally, I'm a nervous nellie and always fly in at least the day before. Good luck with whatever you decide!!! :)

I also will plan on having one gift for each that I was just going to deliver on one day.....if people want to make sure we all get gifts every day of the cruise, we can assign days....if people don't care, no big deal! Looking forward to it! :) Lisa
