Here is our new cruise logo. A very talented and extremely generous Disser named Milliepie did this for us!!!!!!!!

Fantastic logo

On the thread entitled "Official Seattle Port Thread" one recent post by a Disser named "Keurigirl" had some interesting information. So I will cut and paste it below (as I'm not sure how to move it over from that thread as a quote). I'll try to put some of her websites over on our front page in the websites section. Do check out that Official Seattle Port Thread" as it has some other interesting and helpful tidbits of information located there. Here is that link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2838598

This is from Keurigirl's post....

I'm a lifetime Seattle resident, so I'm happy to help anyone who has questions! I'll give my advice for stuff below.

I do NOT suggest Seattle Center and the Space Needle. There is WAY better stuff to do in Seattle than go here. If you can see the needle from the ground you've seen it - it's really not a big deal. If it is sunny and you want to see the view from the top of the needle, then go - but otherwise, you'll have more fun elsewhere.

Must Do's of any Seattle visit:
You have to visit Pike Place Market, obviously! http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/
Do the Ride the Ducks Tour to see a lot of Seattle and get some history: http://www.ridetheducksofseattle.com/
Seattle Underground tour is an awesome way to get history of the city as well as see some really cool stuff in Pioneer Square: http://www.undergroundtour.com/

Additional stuff:

If you want to see a spectacular view of the city and a beautiful neighborhood, head to Kerry Park: http://www.gonorthwest.com/Washingto...ints/kerry.htm
If you are a huge music fan go to the EMP (Experience Music Project) at the Seattle Center. A fantastic and interactive museum: http://www.empmuseum.org/index.asp

Hotels I recommend: (linking you to the reviews at trip advisor for them):

Inn at the Market: For the quintessential Seattle experience! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
The Sorrento Hotel: Lovely, amazing hotel. We stayed here for our wedding http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
The Alexis Hotel: Another beautiful hotel close to the Market: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
Hotel Monaco: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
The Fairmont Olympic: A Seattle Classic. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
The Arctic Club Seattle: This is an awesome hotel that was recently built from a building that was originally a gentleman's club during the Gold Rush area. It's an awesome building with historical architecture, and a beautiful hotel: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html
Suite type hotels such as the Embassy are not as easy to find in good locations here in Seattle. If you must have one I suggest the Homewood Suites on Pike Street: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ashington.html

I trust trip advisor in general for hotel recommendations: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g6...on-Hotels.html

Thanks, I notice that thead and will be adding it to the aug 6th cruise.
Love your new logo, still looking for one for our cruise,

good luck with your cruise planning

Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, we have had to cancel our Alaska cruise:furious:
Have a great time without us folks x

I'm curious to know if anyone has started doing excursion planning yet. I'm wondering what DCL will be offering since port times are reduced this summer. Will be interested to know if they bundle any family adventures like they did last year.

Hi all,

This will be our first Disney cruise, first time to Alaska, and this is my first time on the Disney discussion board!!!! Really looking forward to the August 13th cruise. My husband and I will be traveling with our two sons (ages 9 and 7), my parents, and my sister and her two daughters (ages 11 and 8).

:) Lisa

Lisa and her family who will be joining us on the Midnight Sun Mouseketeers cruise!

Lisa, I've added you to the roll call. I didn't have any first names (except yours!), where you are from, staterooms or seating. If you decide you want me to add this information to our roll call, just post here. You can also send me a PM (private message) once you get to ten posts. You can get to ten posts very quickly by simply posting really quick messages on this meet thread -- we don't mind at all helping you reach that magic ten number! :)

Also, if you decide you want to participate in the FE exchange, just let me know that too. If you are unfamiliar with what an FE is, there is a long paragraph about it posted earlier in this thread by Jackson's Grammie -- she decided not to go on this cruise, but the information is still valid!

So glad you will be joining us on this cruise to Alaska!

Beth

I wish you well, I'm the only one on the Aug 6th 2012 cruise so far
Still waiting for another family to join. I think the Hawaii and NY cruises are taking the luster off the Alaska cruises this year.

Ed

I think I am the only one on the 20th of August sailing, I would love to join you but could not get that week off from work. Can not wait to see your trip reports about all the fun to be had in Alaska.

:banana::banana:

I'm frustrated that DCL hasn't updated the Alaska excursions yet. The first Alaska cruise is in May and they still have all of the port excursions for last year up on their website! But since there are reduced port times, no way will many of these port excursions happen. Auuuuggghh!!!!

One of our cruisemates on the Aug 6th cruise got the following info for Victoria

I'm still not sure I believe the answer (afternoon tea at 6:15 or later?), but here is the info for what is worth:

The port adventures that are tentatively set to be offered in Victoria
when we visit there on August 12, 2012 are as follows:
•Horse Drawn Trolley
•Ocean Wildlife and Orca Exploration
•Private Carriage Tour
•Butchart Gardens and Short City Drive
•Butchart Gardens and Short City Drive—Adult Departure
•Creatures of the Air and Sea
•Butchart and Butterfly Gardens
•Craigdarroch Castle and City Highlights
•Grand City Tour and Empress Tea
•Victoria Ale and Brewery Tour (Adults only)
•Afternoon Tea and Butchart Gardens
•Waterfront Walking Tour

Hi -- I will add you to the roll call and please feel free to give me any more specific information if you'd like to (first names, where you are from i.e., state or country, number in your party, dining, stateroom, if you want to do the FE, etc) -- whatever you feel comfortable and I can add it to the roll call too. You can post the information here or send to me in a PM. By the way, you cna only PM after you have done 10 posts, so feel free to use our meet board to rack up the 10 posts by simply submitting quick hi messages if you'd like.

Welcome aboard! And do tell us all about your Med cruise last year! My family is considering doing it next year. :)
