Drawing from the lyrics of John Denver, the Disney Wonder will be

Going up to Alaska
Up to the land of the midnight sun
Where the whale and the polar bear run
Over the icy blue sea

My family is so looking forward to cruising up to the land of bears, eagles, and whales! Are there any other Midnight Sun Mouseketeers who will be joining us on this grand icy blue water adventure? If so, please join this 8/13/12 Alaska Wonder meet and greet thread! :)

**************************************************

Post #2 has our cruise itinerary.
Post #3 has some useful websites.
Post #4 has our roll call and list of volunteers.

I wish you well, I'm the only one on the Aug 6th 2012 cruise so far
Still waiting for another family to join. I think the Hawaii and NY cruises are taking the luster off the Alaska cruises this year.

Hi Ed, I think you might be right! Thanks for stopping by. Let's keep checking in with each other until more people join our groups!:thumbsup2

Hi Tinkerbelltwins!

Thanks for starting the thread. We are very excited to be joining you on the cruise to the midnight sun! We are a small family of two from Michigan -- Mom Liz (that's me) and DD Katie (13 at cruise time).

This is only our second cruise and our first time to Alaska so we can't wait. We had to decide between this and an ABD trip to Europe but we went with the cruise -- we will do Europe in 2013. I thought that the cruise would be more fun for DD at her age -- especially some of the port adventures. Also, we were super lucky enough to get the Walt suite and I couldn't say no to that! :yay:

We are hoping to add some time in Seattle up front or an ABD Alaska land package but are waiting to see what is available.

So glad that you created a space for everyone to share and get enthused together! Please add us to the roll call . . .

Congratulations you got you number 2, I'm still waiting on the aug 6,2012 thread.

Hi fellow cruisers!! Please add us to the list for the Aug 13th Alaska trip out of Seattle.

We are Dennis (DH), Stacy (me), Dylan (DS age 13 at cruise time) and Gavin (DS age 7 at cruise time). We are from southern California and this will be our first trip to Alaska. We lived in the Seattle area for almost 9 years when we were first married. We also had our honeymoon in Victoria at the Empress Hotel. I can't wait to see Alaska and look forward to doing some great port adventures. With the short hours in some ports, I'm wondering what excursions will be possible. Two things we would love to do is some kind of crab feast, and meeting huskies who are part of dog sled teams.

This will be our 2nd DCL cruise as well as our 2nd ever cruise. We just got off the Wonder on the Mexican Riviera April 3rd sailing. The ship is fantastic, and we fell in love with her.

Looking forward to our trip already!! :)

The third family to join the Midnight Sun Mouseketeers! Welcome Stacy, Dennis, Dylan and Gavin! :yay::yay::yay:

Beth,
Congratulations Now its 3 to 1 lol Beginning to look like I might have the whole ship to myself. Lol

Stacy -- What excursions did your family do on your April Mexican Riviera cruise. Did you enjoy all of the ports? I'm curious because our family almost went on the 10-day a few weeks ago b/c the KSF offer was hard to pass up when Disney released it. Something else came up, so we had to cancel our plans, otherwise we would have gone!

Beth

Hi Beth,

I hope you guys had a great Easter!

We really enjoyed our MR cruise. This was our first cruise ever, so we didn't sign up for any excursions. We were excited to spend time on the boat. A lot of people did not get off the ship though. I think the recent reports of violence in Mexico made many families content to stay onboard. Since you pull in right near dowtown Puerto Vallarta, it would have been nice to get off the ship. Most of the crew gets off in PV, as there is a Walmart and Costco right across the street. I hear it's a great place to stock up on alcohol, lol! We did not get off the ship in PV, but did get off in Cabo. Cabo is exactly what I expected a port to be like in Mexico. You take a tender into the harbor, and walk into a tourist town by the sea. There were mercados (markets) all around and little cantinas, as well as the big places like Cabo Wabo and Senor Frogs. Street performers were present, which my kids got a laugh over. One thing that was difficult for us was the age difference of our kids. Some excursions had an age requirement, which meant that we couldn't go as a family on some that we were interested in. So, we just decided we'd do the cruise again and do those when Gavin was 10. Some of those were the zip lining and Jeep 4x4 trips.

Got my room number for you btw, it's 6542!

Hi Stacy,
Your MR trip sounds wonderful! I think our family probably would have done the same thing had we gone on that cruise. No matter what is going on in ports, there are tons of things to do on the ship, especially when it is your first cruise. Our first cruise was in October and there were so many things to choose from that we barely scratched the surface on stuff we wanted to do -- which becomes a great rationale for needing to take another Mouse Cruise! Thanks for the room update -- I've added it to the roll call. :thumbsup2

I booked my cruise today!

Presley (Jodi), DH Bret, DS Maverick age 15 during cruise. We are also in southern California. Maybe we can fly up with the other family. :rotfl: Just kidding.

Can we all wear matching outfits? JK again.

Forgot to put room # 2608
