We are looking at possibly renting through Alamo on our next trip in July. OUr last experience with them was several years ago, when they were not located right at the airport terminal. The whole process took a LONG time and we weren't too happy with them. Have used National the past few times and have been very satisfied but can get a better rate through Alamo. Could anyone who has rented Alamo lately tell me how the service was?

We get them a lot via Priceline. Most of the recent trips have involved very long lines. However, on this last trip, even though the line was HUGE on the A side, there was literally no one on the B side. We got our car over there, and I think the total time was 15 minutes, including the walk from A over to B.
Lately, they are really getting annoying with the insurance trick tho' ("Do you want full coverage, or just liability?"). I wonder how many people they sucker into buying it that way.
But overall, if the price is right, I'll take Alamo.

Yep, the old "do you want the standard insurance or the full coverage" trick. They all do it, they make a ton of money on this.
Just say NO to any insurance coverage (unless you really want it).
It helps to join all the programs at the different agencies, that way, they don't ask those annoying questions.

So no to Alamo unless you like counter clerks with poor attitudes, lousy equipment, long lines and lousy managers then say yes to Alamo, the worst car company in Orlando.

is alamo onsite at mco now? do you just walk from the plane to the desk to the garage like you do w/national? can you select your own vehicle w/alamo like you do w/national? (i have severe allergies, and if my car smells like smoke or perfume, i will be sick for two days!, so i have dh smell each car before i get in it!)

Yes, it is onsite and shares the same cars and garage space and cars with National.
