Could someone please tell me if Alamo has it's desk actually in the airport (Orlando MCO) and do we have to take a shuttle to pick up the car? If so is it far? We arrive at 10 pm so should we expect long lines? our reservation has been made and prepaid here in France including insurance and taxes. Thanks.

They are on site, ground level with car right there too.
Have a great trip.

Thanks for your quick reply our local travel agent is (and has been)trying to find out for us for the last 3 days!! maybe I should give her disboards address.

All she had to do was access the web site, it is right on there.
And, the floor with the rental cars depends on what side you arrive at. For SWA it is actually down one floor from baggage to the rental counter, then across the street and up one floor in the garage.

I've actually informed my TA a few times on things concerning WDW. They were kind of like yea, whatever, but now she knows that I'm pretty sure of things at WDW. I only use TA for our carribean getaways.

same here.

You need to be firm with car rental companies about what insurances and coverages you want or dont want. Car rental companies like to talk you into buying coverages you don't want.

Just say no if you don't want coverages.

Just say no if you don't want coverages.

I repeated mysel fbecaus you sometimes have to repeat yourself again and again.

Also inspect the numbers on the preliminary charges to be sure they did not slip in coverages you don't want.

Also read the words near the places they want you to put your name or initials to be sure you are not signing up for coverags ou do not want and they are not leaving out coverages yo do want.

Don't buy coverages because the company says it is required by law. It isnot required by law.

Actually a few companies do reqire that non-citizens buy some of the company coverages. Check the wirrten policies of that company. (I do not think the copany mccan make you buy coverages you don't want if you got the copany on a priceline bid, call Priceline from the renal company office or counter if you have problems and I think they have to either give you the car with only the coverages you want, or refund your money.)

also you probably should buy coverages that your dcredit card does not cover for you and also that your own car insurance does not cover for your car bac at home

You're right seashore, we used Alamo last week and once again they were very pushy about the insurance.

The first time we went to WDW, I made the mistake of sending my DH up to the counter alone....... cost us $150 more because he bought every insurance thing the woman threw at him. Lesson learned, now we both go to the counter and "just say no"!

Here's another thing to watch for...Alamo has only pulled it once out of numerous rentals, but it's still good to be on the alert. Instead of asking if you want insurance coverage, the agent asks, "Do you want the deluxe coverage, or just the basic?" Some people don't even realize that you can decline all of it, or else they are tired from their trip and not paying full attention, so their instinct is to agree to one of the other. Just say firmly, "I don't want ANY of the coverage."
We rent from Alamo and Avis a lot, and usually neither one is too pushy. I don't know if it's because we rent via Priceline so they figure I'm a tightwad or what, but we've only had the one deceptive experience.

Good advice Barb.
another thing that protects you from this hard sell is to sign up for Quick Silver or become an Alamo.com member. All your preferences are stored and they never ask, they just print it off and away you go. BTW, Barb, if you rent Priceline, you can use the QS counter to check in. If it is not busy, it sure makes it faster. :)
