Alamo Rental Payment Question

Are you charged at the point when you pick up the car or when you return it?
Also... If it is charged at the beginning of the rental, do they hold the exact amount or the exact amount and a set percentage more?

I did the prepay, so it was paid at the time of booking. Otherwise, I believe they take payment at the beginning. Since we returned the car several hours early (making it much less than the 3 days we had booked for) they told us they were refunding our cc some small amount.
So, bottom line is...I'm not sure. But I'm sure someone here will be able to give you a definative answer.

With Alamo you are charged at the beginning of the rental for the exact amount of your rental.
With National, it is at the end, they do not put a hold on your credit card.
