Have never felt the need to really ask before, usually the responses are already there - after having read the posts over the past few months about Alamo, here is my concern. Have an Equinox, or equiv, reserved from Alamo for a very good rate for next week. Have read many of your concerns and comments, so i also made a ressie with National, interm size upgraded for the same time period. We have always used National, with no problem before, but the Alamo rate was much better and a larger size car. I hate keeping 2 reservations, in the event someone else might need one of them.
Is there really a difference in the level of service? Bypassing the counter on both. Thanks. Caroline

From what I can tell at MCO, the cars are shared between National and Alamo. Go with whichever one has the best rate. I prefer walking to my car with National's Emerald Aisle service rather than stopping at the Alamo office in the parking garage.

An SUV might be bigger in the passenger area, but not necessarily more trunk space. An SUV will also use more gas, so filling up your intermediate car will cost less than filling an SUV.

If you will be bypassing the counter with both, I would definately take the cheaper reservation. You will be dealing with the same person at the booth when you drive out of the garage anyway, since National/Alamo share a lot.

I'd be concern about holding a National Emerald ressie and then not using it because they have the right to charge you a cancel fee.....(and they have your card #)

Go with the less expensive one if you can bypass that line! I alway use National Emerald Isle and love it!

Thanks for some good responses. We arrive at 9:30 pm. The Alamo mid-SUV is $12 ($118.20.)less than the Nat'l intermediate with a 2 car upgrade ( no real price difference at all). I can bypass the counter with both of them. Was simply of matter of who provided better service. When we were there last, there were no Nat'l intermediates, so we were directed to the Alamo lines - picked a mid-SUV following the gentleman's directions, since no Intermediates were available there either. Upon return, Alamo wanted $170. more - took a while but in their little garage office, they finally accepted my Nat'l paperwork and the estimated price. Of course I will cancel one of them - probably tonight. Appreciate your honesty. Caroline :thumbsup2

Truthfully, I would stick with National. Although they do share vehicles with Alamo, on the Emerald Aisle, you have a much better chance of getting upgraded to something nicer (possibly Minivan). The Intmediate vehicle has more trunk space then the Equinox. The Equinox, I find, a little too small, so I prefer the intermediate car more. IMO, Gas really isnt an issue, unless you plan on driving out of the Central Florida area, because you wont be driving a ton of miles....
