I am getting really aggrevated with Alamo!!!! I booked an SUV Crossover (or similar) which at the time was showing a GMC Acadia. The acadia has 3 rows and can easily hold 6 people - which I need. My confirmation also shows GMC ACadia or similar. When I checked rates today, the SUV Crossover class is showing Chrysler Pacfiica or similar with a capacity of 5. THIS WILL NOT WORK AND IS NOT WHAT I RESERVED WHEN I RESERVED THIS CAR CLASS!!! What do I do?!?!?! I cannot switch to a minivan now, as all of the coupons are suddenly not working. HELP, PLEASE!!!!

Do all Acadias have a third row? I was able to find a cached page from National and it lists the Acadia as holding 6 adults. Acadias with a third row should hold 8. The Pacifica says it holds 5 adults and 1 child w/6 seatbelts I guess they can say it's comparable.

One good thing with Alamo is you get to pick your own car so if there are Acadias available you can take one.

Thank you for the quick response. All acadias have a 3rd row, yes. We have had 3 adults in the 3rd row with no problem. The set up is buckets in the middle row as standard. I sure hope there is an Acadia there. Alamo and National are aggrevating lots of people by the looks of some threads!!! Wish I had that page you have to print out!!!!!!! Do you have a fax by chance?

Rental companies never guarantee a specific model of vehicle, except when they have programs where you pay a premium for an exact model. As a result, you're always better off reserving a vehicle where there will be no question as to whether it meets your needs.

That said, my experience with Alamo last week (in Tampa, not at MCO) was that you were able to select whatever vehicle was available from what was on the lot in your reserved class after you checked in. That way, if there was an Acadia available you could choose that over a Pacifica, but if there only was a Pacifica available you might be stuck. They try to be flexible, however, and might let you select a bigger vehicle if what's there won't work for you. No guarantees though. We reserved an economy car and there were none available, so we were able to select from the compacts at no extra charge, for example.

That is my problem, when I booked the car class, it DID meet my needs. They have now changed the description of the car class to a car with less capacity than the description when I booked. If it had said Pacifica or similar when I reserved a car, I would NOT have booked it. I would have gotten a minivan!!!!

I think the fact that they list the capacity at 6 instead of 8 is why they could replace it with the Pacifica. If it said a capacity of 8 then they couldn't substitute a Pacifica.

see if this link works http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cach...al+car+rental+acadia&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us

The Acadia comes in a 7 passenger model. The car class you booked indicated it could seat 6 passengers. You'll have grounds to request a free upgrade to a mini-van if the available SUVs won't seat at least 6. I don't think you were guaranteed a vehicle that can seat 8.

I have a thread somewhere similar to this. When we arrived at MCO, just last Saturday (we are still here in Orlando)they could not produce my reserved full size SUV (Emerald reserve). The car class when I booked it said it seated 7 ADULTS, plus 3 large bags, 2 mediums. In my opinion, "or similar" should meet that description, that capacity. I do not care the make, model, etc. They wanted to give us a vehicle that seated less, or finally a grand caravan minivan that also was smaller than we reserved. We fought for an HOUR. They obviously were trying to wear us down, we were there with 4teens, one handicapped and in a wheelchair. In 98 degree heat. They kept saying the car was "coming", and it was common to wait an hour for a "specialty vehicle" to be brought in. AND they said it was smaller than the description anyway, that we would not "like it". I said, I thought with Emerald Reserve, you just picked out your vehicle....... After alot of yelling, they made it right, with a Toyota Sienna. WOW, is all I can say! This van seats 8, and it has an enormous well in the back for luggage. We love it.

We did have a printout of the old standard SUV description. They also changed that one now, to show 5 adults, one small child. IF thats what it was when I booked, I would have not booked it, we had 6 adults. Perhaps they have now updated the site to show more accurately what each vehcile holds, but all of us that booked already have a rude surprise upon arrival, if you have a bigger party. If you are up for a fight, go for it, we won, but we did not have fun arguing. :sad2:
