I have a reservation with National for the Emerald Aisle. I am familiar with National and have used them in the past. I just booked a reservation with Alamo for $60 less for a full-size because it was the same price as a standard. How does Alamo work in Tampa? Do I get to pick my own car and skip the kiosk/counter if I have an insiders account? TIA

Yes you get to pick your own car. The only way to skip the kiosk is to check in online at home. Print your rental agreement and show it along with your CC and DL at the exit booth.

We are trying flying into TPA in May. Found a rental with Alamo 5/1-5/9 for $156 full size and $278 minivan with Costco. Flight was $300-400 cheaper than MCO (4 people). We stay offsite and would need to rent a car anyway.

Alamo at Tampa - are the full size and standard aisles the same like at MCO? Is there usually a decent selection of cars to choose from? Does Alamo occasionally put minivans on the full size aisle like at MCO? We don't need a minivan but it is nice to have the extra luggage space. :)

THANK YOU!

Alamo in TPA has a much smaller lot for all vehicles than MCO. When we were there Sept 26 there were only 5 vehicles in the Full Size aisle and that was the whole aisle. Economy, Compact and Midsize only had room for maybe 5 or 6 vehicles in each aisle. We had a Convertible rented and had to wait for one to be brought over from somewhere (took almost 40 minutes) While we were waiting lots of vehicles were going out and lot attendants would bring more to replenish them. Seems like they have lots of vehicles off-site somewhere but the aisles in the garage are quite small.

Alamo does not have an offsite location for cars. When they need cars they go to their partner companies National and Enterprise and bring cars to the Alamo lot.

We were just there. Very few cars on the lot but we did get a decent mid size suv. The only issue we had was the agents at the desk were very high sell. They had our paperwork and argued the point we would have to pay for the additional driver. Had to point out 3 times that our contract included a free driver. Couldn't get away from them. I would recommend using the kiosk.
