alamo $10 per day out of florida!

I have been pricing flights from mco to chicago for about a month for our April 2-9th adult only trip and I haven't found anyting cheaper than $333 per person round trip. Last year we flew $123 pp round trip. Alamo has rentals for $10 per day out of florida and I was able to use a $25 off a three day or more rental so we are now flying down and driving back way cheaper.

Airtran to Mco $57 per person- total 120
Swan hotel to chicago-13.75 (rental for 3 days!!), gas $100, food $30 and maybe hotel $60 so for a total of $323.00 for both of us! We will probably drive straight through because it is just the two of us but I am planning on a hotel just in case.

We used the one-way car rentals last year - paid $50 for 6 days, flew into MCO and drove back to Tx. It worked out great!

What's the code to get the one-way rates this year?

We need to rent a one way to Jacksonville Florida for a cruise and the prices I'm getting are much higher than $10 per day!

Here is the link under Hot Deals on the Alamo website. The one way rental only applies for renting a car in Florida and returning the car in another state. It is not for one way rentals within the state of Florida. Rentals are between April 5 and May 31st for a maximum period of 21 days. National has the same deal as well.

This is a great deal. You can even apply your codes and coupons to this. I did a reservation for 9 days, a minivan, picking up at MCO and dropping off at Dulles airport and the total was $132 after taxes and fees. I just can't anyone in my family to be interested in driving for 12-14 hours vs a 2 hour flight. It would save us about $400.

n2mm - maybe you'd get some interest if you made the drive home part of the vacation. Stop and sightsee/spend the night in Charleston or Myrtle Beach or something?

That's my plan for seeing the East Coast. Fly cheap via SW to Florida, get the rental car, spend 4-5 days driving up the coast and finish up in DC so we can see the Smithsonian. Cheap SW flight back to Tx and we got ourselves a vacation!

THanks, but I'm working with a tough crowd. We got our flight down on SW, but no flight home. We paid $54 to fly down (pretty cheap). I love the Smithsonian thought as my group would laugh at me....esp. since I work across the street from the American History Smithsonian (30 years now). I will mention it to them though. I would want to take a break, but the guys would be all manly and want to drive straight through. This is an excellent deal for anyone who can do it.
