When will Aladdin the Musical be going on tour like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast had done? I know The Little Mermaid musical never toured when it said it would. Same thing for Tarzan the musical.

That would be neat. We have seen the Aladdin show at DCA and on a Disney cruise and they are great! We also saw Mary Poppins when it was at the Ahmason(sp?) in LA a few years back. It was awesome!

I'm pretty sure Aladdin on Broadway is different. I haven't seen the others but I saw the Broadway version and it was probably 2-3 hours. They have to have an intermission in the middle. There were songs I had never heard before.

I can't say for sure but I remember Lion King winning numerous awards. It went on tour. Aladdin has won awards so maybe it will tour too. I'm not sure if the Disney productions that did not tour won awards or not but maybe winning awards will be an indicator.

September 2016 for the 2016-2017 touring season is the tentative date for "Aladdin" to start a national tour. Disney Theatrical wants to attempt to open the show in London's West End before mounting a touring production.

That's pretty much par for the course lately with DT productions, though I expect "Aladdin" to keep running on Broadway when the tour kicks off - unlike recent tours of "Mary Poppins", "Little Mermaid" and "Newsies".

I saw the Broadway show right after it opened - it's AMAZING. I'm looking forward to seeing the show at DCA this fall, as I've heard the Broadway production drew off many aspects of the DCA show.

Also, "Little Mermaid" DID tour, but after a serious reworking. It also toured with a largely non-Equity cast and was a subscription offering in larger cities with heavy subscription bases. We had it in DFW last year.

I agree that Aladdin will likely tour, but not immediately. I've seen both the version on Broadway (amazing!) and the one DCA (cute) and while some of the songs are simliar, I would not go as far as saying it drew "many" aspects from the DCA show. The DCA version is very good for a theme-park show (probably one of the best theme park shows I've seen), but it's nothing compared to the Broadway version. I just say this so you don't go to the DCA version expecting to see the same (or similar caliber) show as on Broadway.

Random Fact: None of the DCA Aladdin cast was chosen for the Broadway show when it premiered. I guess if was a big deal at the time and many felt slighted.

And the Aladdin cast is unionized which is rare as most of the rest of CM's in shows are not. There's a kind of hierarchy within CM's right now and Aladdin is top.
