Aladdin Musical

We're planning on seeing the Aladdin musical at DCA next Wednesday (11/8). Is this something you need to get tickets for, or is it just a first come, first serve thing? If so, how early do you need to arrive to get a good seat? Where are the best seats? Thanks!

First come, first served. Although some travel packages include preferred seating for the show. It doesn't affect everyone else getting a seat though. Some folks will line about an hour ahead of time. But we usually head over about 15 min before and can always get a nice seat. Especially mid-week, you'll do fine.

The Hyperion Theater has three sections and when you get in line outside you need to choose your section then because there are essentially three lines. Most would say the Mezzanine section is the best, and the best seats there are front and in the center - if you can get them. We ended up in the second row but on the left, and the seats were fine.

If you want to be sure to have a choice at a good seat, get there 30 minutes early. As the day you have chosen Wed. Nov. 8 will likely be a bit less crowded, 15 minutes may work fine.

We had the "special seating" passes but after talking to a cast member he said they're not the best since you're looking up at the carpet, which is true. He said the mezanine was the best and so we waited for that to open (they have to fill up the orchastra section first before they open the mezanine on slow days). So 15 minutes after they first started seating we walked up and there were 15 people waiting for the mezanaine to open and when it did only 50 people were left to fill it in and we got front row seats on it and had the best view of everything including the carpet flying. The downside of this is you see all the trap doors and things opening so it ruins surprises.

We went a couple years ago and were told the mezzanine was the best seating. We showed up about ten minutes before the performance and the mezzanine line up was so short compared to the floor seating and the seats were good. The only thing was that the aladdin parade went sort of through the audience on the floor, so the floor seaters got a close up view of the characters walking to the stage druing the prince ali parade. My sisters who were quite young were upset because they wanted the characters to walk by them but speaking from someone older, the mezzanine is the best seating because you can see everything.

and as the parade came by a unicorn "kissed" my younger son on the head (put her "mouth" around his head, actually)...which was the highlight of the show for him!

I'm not sure that having a better view of the top of the carpet is a perk...it would make it easier for the kiddies to realize there are two actors each for the Aladdin and Jasmine parts...spoiling the magic for them.

We went on Memorial Day weekend 2005...it was CRAZY busy...and got in line less than a half hour early but still got wonderful seats.

My preference is for the first row of rear orchestra. To me, it gives the best view of the Prince Ali portion and the carpet.

We sat on the FAR left side, my youngest on the outside aisle. right up near the front.

The best part of that was during the parade when some of the gals brought a treasure box up close for DD to see - all the interaction there was great!

Its first come first serve. I got there 20 minutes before show time and I was in the first balcony. It was a FANTASTIC spot to see it. I was happy being in the first balcony cause i didnt have to look over peoples heads on the floor. If I were to go again, I would get the first balcony again.
