We enjoy spending time enjoying the resorts just walking around. I originaly wanted BCV or BWV because of the boardwalk and EPCOT proximity. But we chose AKV because of the 2057 expirationa and current incentives. We have never been there. Is there anywhere you can walk to from AKV? I see lakes on maps, can you walk to them? Can you walk around the Savahnas (outside the fence of course)? TYIA.

We did all the hallways one day just to look at the artwork. You can walk the finces of the savannas in some places, but right now with the construction, it is a bit limited. There is so much to see at this resort! It truly is a resort you can stay at and never really want to leave to do things like parks etc. When we were there a couple weeks ago, we find we did much less park time than we usually do.

There really are no outdoor walking trails at AKV. You'll have to walk the paths around the pool area if you want to be outside. There are PLENTY of hallways to walk if you want to log miles inside.

AKV has basically no walking that will take you anyplace.

OKW and SSR have a lot of internal walks around the resort, and in both case you can also walk or bike to DD.

BWV and BCV have all the Epcot Resorts area to walk around. (No bikes)

VWL has a nice path that you can take to the campground and you can ride a bike if desired.

AKV only has the fenced in area that includes the pool. You can do some walking around, but it's not like walking to 'someplace'.

Just info, HH you can walk all kinds of places, including all the way to the beach house if you want. This is a nice bike ride if you don't want to walk.

VB you can walk on the sidewalks down the main street if you just want to walk. It's a lot nicer to bike though.

Bill is right about the outdoor walking, but I suppose you could always do the parking lot? LOL! We actually liked walking from the parking lot up to the lodge. It really does transport you into Africa! I spent so much time out by the fences both behind Uzima pool, and out the back of the lobby just watching the animals. It is nice to get on the ground level with them. That really only address Uzima and Arusha Rock Savannas though. To see Sunset Savanna, you have to be in a room on that side or in one of the hallway lookouts.

I think the AKV is just beautiful. I stayed there for a week in Sept and loved it. My only problem is that there was no place to walk. I sometimes just like to take a walk at my resort (usually at BW or BC).

One day, I actually saw a young man jogging in the hallway, dressed in jogging clothes, wearing his iPod armband (whatever it's called). He had nowhere else to run. I hope they build a walking path of some sort.

It is quite a place, though, and was tough to leave to go to the parks. I didn't want to miss anything from my balcony! ;)

I have stayed at AKL a few times and the lack of walking paths is my only complaint about the resort. DH and I love to walk and there really is no place to take a nice long walk outside. Once Kidani is built it will be possible to walk between the buildings but I expect the "path" will be along a sidewalk next to parking areas.

I suspect you are right, Lisa. It looks like the parking areas will be the only real common ground.
