I am considering purchasing DVC. i'm looking at BCV, VWL, and AKV.

I was wondering if AKV was selling a particular use year month or could we ask for the month we'd want? (say March or April)?

I heard that you could get the discount ($8 / point off) or take a set of developer points (same # as contract) that could be used for 7 months.
Can we rent out those dev points if we can't use them?

If we wanted 2 contracts, would they charge us 2 sets of closing costs? Or would they charge us only once?

Thanks,
Mike

We just bought in at AKV last week (first contract) and was given a March UY. We had our choice of developer points or the $8/pt credit.

Not sure about renting the developer points as we took the $8/pt credit.

I believe they would charge closing costs on each contract since they would view them as separate transactions. The closing costs are approx. $320 on a financed contract, they are $235 if you pay cash. That may be something that's negotiable on multiple contracts, I don't know.

We are buying now at AKV and they are giving us a March UY. We also took the $8 credit, so I can't help with the other question.

I don't think that you can rent them. Starting with AKV the developer points are not suppose to be added to your account. I say suppose because ours was added by mistake and it has caused us nothing but trouble. They are your points to be used b4 9/1, but they will not be listed in your account and the reservation using the points will also not be listed. :sad2:

If they are selling you March Year, does it mean you get your 2007 points now and in March 2008 you get another set of points?

The short answer to your question is yes!

I just bought a 100 point AKV add-on. I took the developer option. I don't know if I could have rented out the points - I'm using them (along with a 15 point "borrow" from my 2008 BCV points) to add 4 nights in a 1 BR at the VWL during our July vacation.

I had a March Use year originally, so my add-on was also a March Use Year. I got 100 points on March 7 (the date my contract was written) that are considered 2007 points, although I can't use them until September 1st. I will get my next allotment of points on March 1, 2008.

I have to decide whether to bank my 2007 AKV points into next year, or to use them between September and February 28, 2008. Since we've been to WDW twice this year (a week during spring break and 2 weeks this summer), I think I will bank them and have a nice trip next year!!

I think it depends on whether this is a new purchase or add-on.

We just bought our first contract at AKV and have a March UY. We took the $8/pt credit vs. the developer points. We got our normal 2007 points (which we have already used to book a week in August).

I will be calling on May 16th to try an move that ressie to the AKV (they will have some units available in July)

If you add-on at AKV I don't think the points are usable until September.

Where did you hear that they will have units available in July? So far everwhere else people are saying Sept.

I was told by my guide when we put our deposit down. Others have posted on these boards that they also were told July. My paperwork even shows a July date on it for when my unit (#45) will be available for occupancy (which may just be an estimate and/or speculation)

Whether the July date is accurate or not I won't know for sure until I call May 16th. However, everything I've heard so far is that they are ahead of schedule on a small number of the AKL remodels and will have some available in July.

According to this map: http://advc.disney.go.com/media/dvc/languagespecific/eng/resorts/animalKingdomVillas/DAKVMap.pdf part of AKV will be open in July 2007. Disney is actively selling several Units in that part of AKV (Units numbered in the 40s): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18220172&postcount=192

Yep, I will soon be the proud owner of a 1.2% share of unit 45! Although I'm not sure I can avoid stepping into the other 98.8% I don't own, I'm a big guy :)

Member Services told me there will be a very small number of studios/1bdrms available to book as early as July 5th (which is waaaay earlier than I originally thought!).

Based on the units declared in that section of the resort, it looks like there could be as many as 7 2BR lockoffs and 7 dedicated studios available in July.

I bought AKV in March:cool1: and got an Oct 07 use year. At that time they had several different months available. I would assume that if you requested 2different contracts you would have 2 seperate closing costs.

We purchased early, became founding members. Since we had an April use year already, we got 150 points now and we'll get 150 more in April of 08.
