I'm sure this has been answered many times, but I just can't find the answer. We want to add a night onto our trip and stay overnight at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Can guests staying an AKL use the Uwanja camp play area ? Or is it only for those staying at Kidani Village? The driving force behind adding the night at AK is to play in uwanja camp, so we'd like to be informed! Thanks anyone who can help.

I would try to find an official answer on this.
We stayed at Jambo House in May and I can confirm our magic bands did not allow access to either the gym or the pool area at Kidani Village when we tried to check them out one day of our trip.

Thank you both for the info......I keep hearing conflicting information too!
Shikiri.....someone told me the same thing about their AK visit, but then a week later I saw a post about someone staying at AKL that was able to play at uwanja camp.....very confusing & contradicting. I wonder who I might call to confirm where we would be able to swim? The 800 line?

It says it right on the Disney website. You should have been permitted in the pool area. What did the front desk say when you asked?

OP--I wouldn't trust the phone numbers. Those are phone banks and have been known for misinformation.

You can also double check on the DVC boards. We own there and it is one resort built on two phases with joint facilities.

ETA: Found this on another thread but the AKL activity sheet list activities at both pools for all guests. They would not advertise then together to AKL guests if they were not permitted access. If you find that your magic bands do not work, please tell the front desk.

Thanks Lisa! You are right, the 800 lines don't help at all. I called twice, the first time the agent told me that the dvc resort guests have access to both, but not those staying just at AKL. The second agent said yes definitely we could use both. It's frustrating to not have a definite yes! Thank you for the link! I think we should have access to both, but I will have one very upset little boy if we go there just for both the pools and then we are denied access to uwanja camp :( we are going to go ahead and book the extra night and hope for the best....thank you for all the great info!

You should not be denied. It is advertised on the link I show you for hotel bookings. Admittedly, we are DVC--but it does clearly on the non-dvc website. If all else fails, including the magic band--I would take the activity schedule to the front desk and ask what's up with that.

Here is the quote from WDW website, when I booked I asked Guest Service (not reservations) and also told yes that we would have access.

Pool with Waterslide

Escape to an 11,000-square-foot pool with an exciting waterslide and gently sloping, zero-depth entry point similar to that of a natural watering hole. Surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms, Uzima Pool includes a children’s wading pool and 2 whirlpool spas.

You can also cool off at Samawati Springs Pool, which offers a thrilling waterslide, 2 whirlpool spas and Uwanja Camp—an animal observation site-themed water playground with squirting Venus flytraps, a rope bridge, water cannons and more. Samawati Springs Pool is located just a short walk away at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village.

Please report back and let me know what happens!! We are booking there next sept. as long as we can use uwanja!! My boys would also be upset if they couldn't play there! Have a great trip! I hope your 5 year old has a blast at Uwanja Camp :goodvibes

Hi. I am waiting at the Orlando airport right now (flight is delayed
4 hrs.-boo) after a wonderful week stay at kidani village. I can confirm that guests at both jambo & kidani freely used both pool areas this week with no issues. You did not need your magic band to get into any of the sections. We used jambo pool twice ( it was less crowded ) & met people staying at jambo who were using our pool area & the kid's sprinkler section. The shuttle freely took everyone back & forth no problem. Hope that's helpful. :)
