Hi everybody...

We're leaving in less than a week and we were talking about what to do with our laptop when we're not at the resort.

I don't know how large/small the safes are at AKV Kidani... but I know when we stayed last year at CBR the same was extremely small and we had a tough time fitting much in there at all.

First question is... what size are the safes? Are they large enough to fit a decent amount of stuff in?

Second question is... is it safe to leave our laptop in our room, unlocked, when we're out? I know we're only going to have Mousekeeping one day (we're there for 7 nights)... but, we don't want to take any risks with the laptop or our camera.

If nothing else, we can always put them in our van locked away, but... we'd prefer to not have to leave the room with them.

So... what does everybody else do with their laptops when they stay in Disney World?

Thanks everybody!

I have never had any trouble leaving my computer out. It's triple password protected and I don't keep any personal info on it. All of the personal info is on a USB flash drive that I keep in my pocket.

You can buy a computer cable lock if it makes you feel better.

The safe at both AKV (kidani and jambo) and BLT were big enough to get my netbook in. For larger laptops, they might be too small.

No issues fitting my tablet in the one at any of the resorts (although some of the inwall safes I needed to stand it up right for).

I would NEVER leave a notebook or other valuable unlocked, just sitting in the room. Housekeeping or maintenance could enter your room at anytime, and even if they don't steal it, if they leave your door propped while they're working between rooms, nothing says a dishonest person walking by wouldn't swipe something they see left out.

The only way to truly protect data is a highly encrypted hard drive, basic passwords can be broken pretty easy (BIOS, Windows, Screen Saver, etc).

The safes in Kidani are the pedestal type. They are larger than the wall safes and easier to access since large items can go in flat instead of on edge.

Thanks everyone! Lisa... we've got two laptops (15.6" Dell and Toshiba). Would they both fit in the safe? When we typically stay in hotels elsewhere, the safe is located in the closet and is fairly large.

Thanks for your help!

I have always just left my laptop in the room in its bag and never had a problem, but if your nervous why not leave it at bell services until you return sitting in a hot car for hours might not be a very good thing
