:confused3 we have BCV booked but would like to stay at AKV or SSR for 5 nights of the 9 night trip. AKV we would get a SV room we are only going to the park 3 day out of the 10 we will be in WDW. so with that info What is the best resort for pool time and things for the kids to do? At AKV what will be open in JULY any of the nem buildings? what pool will be open just the AKL pool? I thing the SV would be cool to see but how long can you look at the animals. i like the look of SSR and would like to try this resort DW would like AKV we only have stayed at BCV at WDW. HHI was great and so was VB.Can you help MS said look like AKV will have rooms at the 7 mounth windoe for our studio.

my kids look about the size of your kids. They really enjoyed SSR this summer. The Community HAll was a fun place--go even when there are no scheduled activities--we did not do this until the end of our trip, and it was their favorite palace--PS2 games, coloring, painting, games, and a disney movie playing on a big TV with a sofa to watch. They also had fun pool games for this age. My kids loved SSR pool--it has a great slide.
We only went into parks 2 days. We did pool AM, Community HAll after lunch, then either character dinner at a hotel (so we didn't have to pay park entrance) or Ft Wilderness campfire and CHip and Dale sign along, or went over to DTD for dinner and played at lego store. They also have movies at the Grandstand pool 3X a week (we stayed in Grandstand---it has it's own pool and sprayground and hot tug---but still close to Springs for food and big pool--great section to request).
AK is a great place---but I might save it for another year when all the construction is done and everything is up and running. Kids say AK slide is "lame" and pool is boring--I love it, but I'm not a kid.

I have to agree. Until the new community hall and pool opens at AKV, I would go with SSR. My boys love Comm Hall and all the activities they offer. AKV has lots of activities also, and if interested about history and art your children may enjoy it.
Im kind of wishing I had waited to stay at AKV until the new bldg opened. Im excited to stay Concierge, but we most likely will not return until the larger units are opened. Im already missing my big jacuzzi tub at SSR and that second bath of the larger units and we dont check in until next week:goodvibes

they are booking a studio not a 1 bedroom or larger.

the AKV is a little small for a family of 4.

but it is lovely!!!

if your family is mostly wanting a place to relax - then I would go with AKV.

the TV alone - love it!!! flat screen tv - all units at AKV have a DVD. I know they were putting them in at SSR - but not sure if all studios have one now.

my standard view balcony at AKV was bigger than the one I had at SSR.

the bed seems bigger at AKV - but that is probably all the stuff they put on it.

there are a bunch of things for your kids to do. the pool, which is definitely the center of the action at the other DVC resorts is not here. the lobby is.

Either choice is fine. but for non-park action AKV wins for me.

Isn't Jambo house (the Lodge rooms) supposed to be completed by early '08? If so the construction should be less chaotic by July.

Still, I'm a SSR purist so if given a choice I'd go back to SSR. At least for the bulk of my trip. I like the layout of the resort and the amenities better than AKV. I've visited AKL multiple times over the last 4 years and now the thrill is waning for me. I actually passed it up in October because I'd had enough while I hated to leave SSR.

That said, I'm going to do a little resort exploring myself next Fall. The plan is to waitlist 3 days at either BWV, VWL or AKV. Whichever comes through first I'll take. I'm hoping for BWV just for the Food & Wine. My second wish is VWL. AKV makes last just because I'm currently bored with it, and it's remote from everything else. The bulk of my trip will be at SSR.

don't know what we will do. I might try AKV for 3 nights then go to SSR. This would leave out BCV and the kids love the pool. We will have to see what MS has for us. might have to pick name out of hat to see where we will stay..
