AKV or BLT add on????

just be aware that a 50 pt add-on at BLT only gives you the 11 month window for those 50 pts at BLT. you can bank and borrow to give you up to 150 pts every third year at BLT from that add-on contract, but you won't be able to book BLT using your other resort's points until 7 months out.

Gotcha!:thumbsup2 Gosh, this is all so consuming - I should be :laundy: but I am forever...:surfweb: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just wanted to say that we have decided to buy at AKV!!!! I told our guide yesterday and we are to sign the papers when we go in 2 weeks time!! :yay:  The price per point is cheaper than BLT and we shall get points this December, so getting double the amount of points over the next year, than we would have got with BLT, as we wouldn't get those until December 09.

The children really loved this resort and we feel it is more homely for us as a family right now. :grouphug: We visited and ate at AKL last year and loved the theming. I am sure we will stay at BLT sometime, as I cannot wait to try the decor out and the proximity to MK.

In the meantime - thanks for all of your help!!:cool1:

Congratulations. Remember, you can always add-on points at any DVC resort. There are no closing costs on add-ons direct from Disney.

Congrats Cerigirl.....:cool1:
We also recently did an AKV add-on. We love the atmosphere and themeing there. And it does feel warm and cozy to us as well. Just feels so rich in personality and reminds us of the WL.
However, we are also seriously considering a BLT add-on based soley on the proximity to the MK.

We just bought last week at AKV. I was all pumped to buy at BLT (This is our first contract) having stayed at the Contemporary for one night last Feb. With that said I was really disappointed in the BLT models. What I saw was pretty 'cheap' in my eyes. Disney uses laminate for the cabinets and other areas in the studio and parts of the 1 and 2BR villas. This really turned me off. The laminate wasn't installed that well. Other than that the rooms were ok. We really like the AKV models with what appeared to me as solid furnishings. Basically take a day and see the models and buy what you want. Take the time to get it right the first time, don't rely on pictures or brochures. I know I will miss the proximity of the BLT but it is only near one park. The rest are bus rides or extended monorail rides and a transfer away. In addition there will be 400+ rooms with an average of 3 people in them (a little under estimating) that means at least 1200 extra people trying to ride the monorail. I have been on the monorail from the contemporary and I would hate to see that line. My point is to keep the entire picture in play not just one aspect of the decision.

Good luck in what you decide (looks like a lean right now to AKV). As long as you make an informed decision together you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I took the tour on Sunday and didn't think the BLT models were 'cheap' at all. In fact, we were blown away with the decor and were impressed how much better BLT looks in person. I agree that folks should take the tour and see the BLT and AKV models in person. Based on our tour, we decided we wanted more BLT points.

Mike, what UY's are they selling and what are the MF's per point? (Might be looking for a March UY!) :)

We got a March UY as an add-on. I believe that DVC Mike also has a March UY. I only recall seeing one post indicating that new members would be getting a Feb UY.
