I am a DVC member and received the nice info packet on AKV. The diagram inside appears to have portions of the AKL as AKV to open in the next few months. Is that correct or am I not remembering the AKL layout right? Seems like we stayed in one of the wings before? Anyone else sense that? This may be common knowledge but I'm not up to speed on AKV. Thanks!

You are correct, my fellow Okie. ;) At this time, the 5th and 6th floors of the AKL a/k/a Jambo House (as they are now calling it to differentiate it from the new building) are being renovated into DVC villas. I don't have the diagram in front of me, but certain colors of checks around wings, etc., indicate at which time the renovation will be completed. A friend and I will be staying in a studio the 2nd week of December. Can't wait. :thumbsup2

The Current Lodge, Jambo house will have the 5th and 6th floors remodeled for DVC to convert the rooms into several of the available accomodation types. The second building will be constructed from the ground up. Sorry, I forget the name of the building off hand...

:)

Will all rooms at AKL become AKV? The diagram in the nice colorful info packet has all areas of the lodge eventually included but maybe that's just the upper floors.

No, not all rooms at AKL will be AKV. Only the 5th and 6th floors. Well, at least at this time. Who knows about the future?:confused3

Has this ever happened before? Has any other existing Disney resort been converted into DVC?

No, not actually converted. The Disney Institute buildings were torn down and SSR built. The villas at WL and BC were built separate from the original resorts.

kept in mind that the layout you are seeing is for kidani.

not jambo layouts are on the DVC member site yet.

LisaS found the Jambo layouts in the architecture drawing.

The new AKV package (containing the DVC DVD) has a detailed map showing construction details for both Jambo House & Kidani Village. It's an interesting piece to peruse for those who have received the package.

AGREED...I actually "fell in love" with the new water area especially for the kids.
