We are booking a trip for my DD's 16th birthday and allowing her to take a friend. We've stayed in a 1 bedroom at AKV before, standard view, and we were overlooking a service road but also an area where some of the animals roamed.

Trying to decide if it's worth an extra 100 points to go savanna view this time. We have a 150 point contract, so this will wipe out a couple years of points, which is fine. But is the savanna view worth giving up that many points, which is pretty much equivalent to another short trip over the summer?

It's her 16th birthday so we're willing to splurge but don't want to feel sorry I did. So just wondering what's the wow factor on this view?

Thanks!

Disney puts the rooms in the most expensive category that they can. If a room is in the standard category, there is a reason for it.

Getting a great animal view can be a crap shoot in any category, they are wild animals who are kept in areas with food feeders.

We have gotten savanna room several times. Was happy with the view, not the best but good enough. Last time it was awful. Right next to the pool, we had a corner of the savanna. Hardly any animals and all the noise from either pool cleaning or pool noise or pool games.

How much time will you be in the room? Seeing the animals from your unit is nice, but it's only for a hour or so in the morning and not much to see at night. We have done savanna view on multiple trips, not sure I would use the extra points to stay in that view again. And we always had the LONG walk from the unit back to the lobby area. For about the same amount of points you could stay at BLT lake view, BCV, BWV preferred view or stay at CCV/BRV for less points. It really depends on where you will be spending most of your time, MK, EPCOT... Every DVC is a great place to stay, I'm sure your daughter and her friend will enjoy where ever you stay. Have a great trip.
