AKV Founders Tapestry No More!

They're easy to read and fit the theme, at least.
I'm happy with the end result.

I wish the guy who took the vid had panned the whole thing slowly so I could see where we ended up, but I have a few friends going there in the next few weeks who I can put on the job if it doesn't get posted on the net before then.

Seriously peeps. Check out the video of the library that is on the youtube post above. There are your precious tapestries hanging right on the wall with your names on it. Problem solved!

Yep, but the vast majority of this thread is several months old. The final result, I think, is very nice...and as I said easy to read. Even though I don't own at AKV, I don't see why anyone would be unhappy with the final product. For some reason, though, I had a mental picture of some large piece of artwork with tiny names woven all through it, so finding one's name would be challenging...sort of like finding your photo at the EPCOT Legacy wall.

I posted this on another thread with vids, but figured this would get more views from people interested in this topic.

Do the things hanging on the wall at the 2 min mark look more like robes or tapestries?

Looks like they couldn't make up their mind or didn't know what they ordered till they took them out of the bubble wrap.

Thanks for this - I think it looks fine. In fact, I noticied our family name in the video clip.

Thanks for the video, I think the robes look fine and fit well with the theming.

Those who were told they would get their name on a tapestry should get what they were told they were getting. I was a little late in purchasing to be considered a "founder" but I would be upset just in the principal alone.
It's not right and DVC seems to take a lot of liberties, and often, with their fine print.

I was among the first to tour Kidani at the Member Preview last Wednesday. I took a lot of pics and found one that has the Tapestry. It's in the library just off of the main lobby. Not the best pic (sorry), but may help with the current discussion.... We aren't on the Tapestry (not enough points:sad2:) so I didn't spend any time really examining it. At first glance I saw a tapestry, now I see that they are robes.....they look great to me!!!

Hope the picture helps!

If it is a robe (I can't tell from the photos/video), it makes me wonder if the mistake was originally marketing it is a tapestry. Is sure looks like a tapestry to me, but I can see where it has the potential to be a robe.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if someone looked at design drawings and believed it was a tapestry when it was always intended to be a robe. :confused3

Do these robes have "arms" in them? I don't see any, this may be where the confusion lies?:confused3

Well it sure looks close enough to me! I am a founding member. I will go over next week and look for myself. Thanks for the picture!

From what I saw of the videos it appears to be a tapestry that looks like a robe. I certainly wouldn't call it a robe because there are no sleeves or neckline; however, there appears to be lines on the tapestry to represent a robe.

It looks like one flat piece of material and that leads me to believe it's more like a tapestry.

I believe they are magic eye tapestries. If you look at them long enough (with a drink in hand) the robe jumps off the fabric at you.

Or they might be an authentic robe from an African ER because it looks to me like it would leave your backside exposed if you used it as a robe.

If they are robes, I assumed they were a sort of over-the-head type thing where there really aren't any arm holes. It just sort of drapes over the top.

More of a ceremonial robe...definitely not a bathrobe. :goodvibes
