AKV Condo Meeting Discussion

I wonder what they did to extend the life of the furniture. Or maybe bought new?

we stayed in the same studio 2 years in a row and this year there was a noticeable upgrade in the condition of the furniture over the same room last year They must be either doing some refinishing work or have a stockpile of furnishings to swap out
 
Thank you guys for wishing me a great trip, we are having a blast, just got back from Dinner with Santa at my fave WDW restaurant Cake Bake and we got to meet Gwendoyln! Trip reports coming in a couple weeks!

I had breakfast there last week during my BWV stay. Very good - I'll do it again.
 
Ah someone else was upset because he got turned away when he wanted to go shopping at the gift store in May and wasnt staying there.

He thought that owners should be able to go on property even when not staying there to go shopping. He was upset that he pays a lot and owns there and was turned away
They can 100% go there. Just park at Disney Springs or a theme park and get on a bus for AKV. Takes more time, but it gets you there. WDW puts out collectable coins and pins all over the parks and resorts. You can’t drive to all of them so you have to use Disney transportation if you want to get them. How do all the Disney influencers get to WDW resorts when they are not staying at them?

I always find these discussions reminiscent of when the resort first opened. At that time, Disney said that only guests who were staying at AKL could get in past the guard shack, except those on WDW transportation. Within 6 months, there was such an outcry, they reversed their initial policy. Twenty plus years later, they go back to their original statement, but this time they don't care about the complaints-they do it anyway!
 
That BLT lady is not going to be happy 😆 they are opening up the lounge at the top of BLT to all members (blue card) and no longer requiring a resort stay. As a local, I’m thrilled. 🤷🏼‍♀️ you win some, you lose some. 😆 they are also going to begin taking reservations for fireworks viewing on the deck. Huge win! Absolutely perfect for out of town guests that don’t have a park pass. You get to park two hours ahead of your reservation, enough time for a quick serve meal or a drink in the bar, then pop up to your reserved spot for the show. 💥
They failed to mention this to us at the meeting 🤣🤣 They actually made it seem like they are aware of the issue and looking for ways to solve it 🤣🤣

Well apparently he thought he should be able to drive there and park and get in and shop since he owns there
 
Whew! Honestly question 1 is something I would be angry they wasted DVC meeting time on. I am a vegan and I am saying this... what a joke of question for a DVC meeting.

Wonder if question 6 was from a Disboarder.. I think possibly. I dont want my timeshare to be anything like Hilton, thanks but no thanks.

Did you learn anything or find it was a waste of time?

I’m in the boat that thinks that the cost you incur you have to pay yourself.

🤣 when it comes to communication from the DVC division of WDW I used to wonder if was apathy or deceit? At first I thought it was definitely deceit, that they were lying by omission. However, the more I learn about the monopoly they have created for themselves, and how they are truly untouchable in their decision making power, I’m leaning toward apathy. They just invest the minimum amount of mental energy required to keep the ship afloat, and probably don’t care to know about anything that doesn’t affect them directly. 🤷🏼‍♀️
 
Been there a couple times and never had a bad experience. I was solo recently and didn't eat at the restaurant, but got a slice of cake that lasted me 4 days!
I had a bad experience at the tea, the server dropped all of our desserts that we paid a million dollars for and then he tried to pick them up and put them back all sloppy ummm no! I pay too much for broken desserts that fell!

I also dont like that the stuff they try to sell you gets rolled into their gratuity when you can just buy it next door, but im aware of the latter so I dont buy anything unless its next door and the food is good enough for me to go back and the other server we had when we went was wonderful!!!

I tend to think its both 🤣🤣 They def withhold information they know the answer too, some of it like the refurb details, I understand.

But transparency about our annual dues, where all the money goes if the credit card charges are true, that should be revealed to us all and not just when pressed by a member

The server had been spilling stuff here and there, i think he was nervous so I was trying not to look at him to make him feel more comfortable and I didnt care if some tea was accidentally spilled, but him picking up the desserts all smashed with his bare hands and then trying to put it back is where I draw the line, thats just gross and i pay too much 🤣🤣
 
The food is so good, it was definetely a highlight of our September trip and worth the price to me.

I just get annoyed with a very little thing. Spelling salad 'salade' when the rest of the description is in English. Does not make greens taste better. I'm less annoyed by croque monsieur or croque madame as the dishes are more unique and convey what is expected.

I noticed that too and it bothered me 🤣🤣🤣 I do think theyre having issues of wanting to be a "high end restaurant" but not exactly nailing it.

The Dinner with Santa def was not worth the insane price it commanded and they sent me a survey after and I did give constructive criticism as to why.

Gwendolyn is at the restaurant a lot, she moved to Orlando, she has a hand in putting up all the decor and she was there with her husband and sons during that first Christmas dinner.

I admire her dedication and passion which you can tell she has for the restaurant. She took the time to talk to all of her guests. The carrot cake is my favorite and she told us the story of how that recipe was born and the gumbo which is a favorite as well and signed the cookbook we bought (with glitter of course!) I hope she reads what I wrote and gets something out of it, although I forgot to write that we dont like the word salade 🤣🤣

In the end, we all find the food to be delicious so we will keep going (during normal hours)

I agree! I am too clumsy to be a server so I totally was sympathetic... at first until he tried to pass off those smashed desserts as acceptable 🤣🤣.

I was surprised he told me he used to work as a server before at Animal Kingdom, def thought the was new to serving!

And then with our luck we got him AGAIN as a server for the Santa Claus dinner 🤣🤣 Talk about awkward 🤣🤣 Thankfully we all pretended like we'd never met and everything went smooth 🤣🤣

Then he hasn’t read his contract because it makes clear you don’t get access to any resort you own simply because you do.

You fall under the same rules as all other guests.,.parking at resorts is for those staying there or who have a reservation.

And now, having one at TOTWL for even the firework viewing only counts.
