AKV Concierge - Review & Pics - *Pics added - Post #13*

Beautiful pictures! I'm just curious-did you see the Jonas Brothers in the concierge lounge? They were there April 29 and 30 (maybe more dates).

Nope - not when we were there! DD would have gone nuts if we had seen them though!:lovestruc

Your pictures are great!! We were in a 1 bdrm. SV concierge level room for one night in March. It was incredible. The food in the lounge was delicious and seeing your picture of the pita chips and hummus brought back yummy memories!! :cloud9:

I was there at that time. I don't know who they are so I wouldn't know if they were in the lounge or not at that time. However one evening we were returning to AKL and whoever walked into the hotel just ahead of us caused a group of teenage girls to start screaming and grab their cameras.

Well chances are that may have been them::yes:: :lmao: My dd12 would have completely lost it!!!!

OP! Wow great pics! 6 more months to go woohoo!

nhdisnut - I think we stayed in "your" room the first week in June. We really enjoyed our first stay at club level. My wife has said that it will most certainly not be our last ! We did not mind having a pool view room , as you can put me in the Lodge and I would be happy simply to be there. Thanks for posting the pics - it brought back fresh memories. :goodvibes

We stayed in that same room in April and loved it. I liked being in the chimney for some reason! My DH says to post that on the balcony, you could smell Boma's food from down below.

OMG-I was there too! I was standing with all the teenaged girls. I'd been sitting reading a book when I looked over and saw about 20 people standing around and Disney security was there. Being a nosey person, I went over and asked people "What are we waiting for?", hoping it was someone I knew (it wasn't). When the Jonas brothers came in, they could have been anyone for all I knew. But from the stiffled screams and giggles from the girls next to me, I knew who was in the building. Personally, I would have been happier to meet you, LisaS, than to see the Jonas brothers.

I would have liked to meet you too! Were a lot of the young girls dressed in pink? The crowd of girls we saw were all dressed alike, like they were part of a team or a school group.

I don't recall seeing any young guys in the concierge lounge, especially ones that would have caused a lot of excitement among the families with young kids who were using the lounge! Maybe they were staying in one of AKL's suites? Or maybe they were just in the lounge at different times.

I mentioned the Jonas Bros. to my DD - she pretty much freaked about the idea that we missed them by only a day - would have been something had we actually seen them!

Glad everyone enjoys the pictures! Thanks for the kind words!:goodvibes

Were staying for our last night stay concierge level, were doing the Wildlife Discovery Excursion the day we leave. Will we be able to hang out in the lounge until our flight leaves that afternoon?

I love the pictures, and can't wait!!!

Yes you can use the lounge that day. We did that as well for a couple of the hours between checking out and catching the DME bus to the airport. The lounge was pretty deserted at that time of day so it was a very quiet place to relax before the trip home.

I had some of the Tusker lager at Jiko when we went in May. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that I couldn't get some at home. Very nice lager and, since it's from Kenya and I'm a runner, it has got to make me faster, right?!?:rotfl:

:rotfl2: I like that logic!

It's so great to find answers here!! Especially when it's an especially good answer for our purposes!!!

We are planning a concierge stay for our 10th anniversary in July of '09 - I have the booking window on my calendar already and am just counting down the days to book it!

But I need some clarification on the lounge and the food. Is all that food and drink (including the beer and wine) "complimentary" for the people staying in concierge? If so that's amazing!

Does anyone know the costs of the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris?

Thanks for the pics and the info :thumbsup2

Yes, if you are booked at CL either at AKL or AKV, then all that food & wine is included! I believe that the Sunrise Safari was $60 per person and the Sunset Safari is $160 per person (if you are staying CL).

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing! What are the chances of getting a CL room if you don't own at AKV? Anyone on here done it?

According to a CM I talked with, the chances aren't too good. He told me that the few of them there are are always booked up at 11 months by the AKV owners.

Just curious what the rack rate for CL at AKL would cost, say for a studio? Would like to know since it doesn't look promising for non-owners.

Post 7 in this thread is from someone who booked CL at 6 months out:

I imagine that it's only going to get more popular, so maybe transferring or booking from an owner would be the way to go for non-owners. Who am I kidding? Why don't you do an add on, BWV Dreamin?

It's so sad to think they have a total of 5 2 bedroom lock off units. When the charts came out, I envisioned getting a 2 bedroom and a studio, concierge level for our family. Then I found out just how many units there were. There's no way that I want to put myself through that stress trying to get it all. Family or not, we're staying in other units..it's easier to get a BC or a GV somewhere.
