Post 7 in this thread is from someone who booked CL at 6 months out:

I imagine that it's only going to get more popular, so maybe transferring or booking from an owner would be the way to go for non-owners. Who am I kidding? Why don't you do an add on, BWV Dreamin?
Bobbi:)

:goodvibes Great suggestion there Ms. Bobbi......only one small problem-$$$! Still workin on that exchange thing........;)

Just curious what the rack rate for CL at AKL would cost, say for a studio? Would like to know since it doesn't look promising for non-owners.
According to Disney's website, the cost to add Concierge Service to a Savanna View room at AKL is $45 extra per night in Value and Regular seasons, $60 more per night in Peak season and $75 more per night in Holiday season. So for example in Regular season, the rack rate for an AKL Savanna View room is $345/nt or $390/nt if you add Concierge Service to that room. I was surprised to see how much Concierge at AKL has come down in price now that they no longer put the guests on the 5th and 6th floors. The full rate chart is available here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortRates?id=AnimalKingdomLodgeResortRatesListingPage

By comparison, in that same season an AKV Studio goes for $310 (Value), $370 (Standard View), $440 (Savanna View) and $515 (Concierge). The AKV rate chart is here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...?id=AnimalKingdomVillasResortRatesListingPage

ETA: These room rates do NOT include tax!!

What's the room tax rate at WDW?

LisaS, when we were bringing our family to WDW, we always booked a package when we went, only because I just didn't want to look at the prices, and the package had to be paid for before you got there. I know that we paid tens of thousands of dollars for our DVC, but I still would get sticker shock when I see the price of the rooms.

There was a thread about a "no balance" checkout. We still charge some, but it's a small amount compared to what nights would cost as used.

Bobbi:)

It's so sad to think they have a total of 5 2 bedroom lock off units. When the charts came out, I envisioned getting a 2 bedroom and a studio, concierge level for our family. Then I found out just how many units there were. There's no way that I want to put myself through that stress trying to get it all. Family or not, we're staying in other units..it's easier to get a BC or a GV somewhere.

Bobbi:)

I booked a 2 bedroom and a studio both concierge level for 6 consecutive nights first week of March(2009) for our family. It can be done, I called daily at 9am. :thumbsup2

What's the room tax rate at WDW?
Last I knew it was 10.5% or maybe 11.5%? I think AKL is in Osceola County and the tax is higher there than in Orange County (where the other WDW resorts are) but again, this is all from memory it's been a while since I booked a room through CRO.

I would only book a room if I could get an AP rate! I got so tired of waiting and waiting for those rates to be released. That's really what motivated us to buy into DVC. I love being able to book 11 months out and be done with it!

Speaking of AP rates, they do offer them for AKL Concierge from time to time.

We have a concierge studio booked for Dec 14 - 19 and definitely want to try the various foods served there. Would getting the basic DDP on top of it be too much?

What time do they generally put the food out at evening, in case we wanted to snack lightly and then have a meal out.

I am thinking of booking just a few meals during our timeframe so that we can take advantage of the concierge offerings; otherwise, I am afraid that we will not be at the hotel enough.

If you haven't already made your reservation, I would do it now. There is a good chance the rooms are already booked. I booked for mid May and could not get the room I wanted for concierge calling DBD.
GOOD LUCK!!:thumbsup2
