Akv-concierge Floor Experiences

I know from asking at WL club level that it is perfectly acceptable to take reasonable amounts of the offerings back to your room. Should you take 12 bottles of beer no, take a beer or a glass of wine and some food or snacks that is fine, and expected. I love a sugar cookie (or 2) and a glass of lemonade on by bed table when it is time to turn in.

There was some great pulled pork on night and I was sorely tempted to have a second and 3rd sandwich but I behaved myself and only went back for seconds after most guests had had dinner and there was plenty left. It is all about common courtesy.

Taking food back to your room isn't the problem. Attacking the food when it is set out and taking several meals back to your room is.

People unfortunately have the "I'm entitled" mind set without consideration for others. it's not just at Disney, it's everywhere.

We were in Dallas last week and the hotel served drinks and munches in the evening. One of the items were jalapeño poppers, which are cream cheese stuffed jalapeño peppers. People were attacking as soon as they were set out. 75% of the people didn't even know what they were. Most would take one bite and throw their plate in the trash. One guy took around twenty. I asked him if he knew what he was taking? He thought that they were chicken nuggets and promptly dumped his plate back into the serving dish.

:sad2:

We took food back to our room, a cookie and a glass of lemonade or one glass of wine each. There were times when the lounge was pretty crowded so I figured it left a table free for someone coming up from the 4th floor.

I felt the same way Lisa. At times, tables are at a premium and we were 1 door away from the lounge, so it was better for us to return to our villa.

I dont think it would be too convenient for those guests on the lower floor to take food back.

As for our experience, we enjoyed our Concierge stay and would only return to Jambo House to stay concierge in a studio. Any other trips will be Kidani for the larger units and bathrooms.

I think it's ok to take food back to the room, just not ALL the food!:goodvibes

We were in line during our Christmas stay (just a few people) and DS (then 8) really looked forward to the uncrustables and the gummy bears on the plate at night. Well the little girl in front of him took all the gummy bears from the center of the plate. He exclaimed rather loudly "she took all the gummy bears!" her parents were not too proud when everyone looked. They did bring out more but it took a child to tell the truth.

How many AKL concierge rooms are there? As someone pointed out there are only 10 DVC villas maximum. Just how crowded does the lounge get:scared: ?

We overlooked the Sunset savanna and outside the construction, it was very beautiful. I have no qualms with anyone taking a plate back to their room but these people were taking enough food to feed a small country, leaving others with nothing, not even a gummy bear.

The behavior of some of the concierge guests is pretty low class. However, I think it highly unlikely that Disney is loosing money. The majority of concierge guests are paying alot for the benifits. (on average $120.00 per night, per room!) The only thing I could see happening is Disney raising the price for hotel guests. The great thing is that they are unlikely to change the points requirements for these rooms since they would have to reallocate the entire points chart.

Dues could always go up and then all the AKV owners would pay and only a few would benefit.

When I was there in June, it was crowded in the morning for breakfast and in the evening when the appetizers and desserts came out. Mid-afternoon wasn't bad.

Glad to hear that the poor behavior of others didn't spoil your overall experience. We will have a 1BR next August and requested a SV - which savanna did your room overlook?

Just a question for anyone who's stayed on concierge level....if you are in the lounge to get something to eat or drink you aren't allowed to take it back and eat it in your room? Obviously I'm not talking about the rude people who took more than their share and then ran off. Are you supposed to only eat the offerings in the lounge area?
You are definitely allowed to take it back to your room and I have done that. With a cookie or two. I would never consider cleaning out all the desserts and taking platters full of food back for later though. I've also taken a carton of milk for breakfast in the room the next day as we are sometimes up and out before concierge lounge is even open.

I've stayed concierge several times as a paying guest over the last few years and once so far as DVC member. The last time we were there was in April and I did notice people eating in the lounge making dinner out of the food offerings. They were buried in empty little plates all around them at the tables. I have to say my first thought was that they were hogs and too cheap to buy their own dinners. The food offerings are supposed to be light snacks for many, not full meals for a couple families.

There are only 5 - 2 bedroom lock-offs for DVC but there area lot more concierge rooms on the 4th floor for paying guests and they can all come up to the lounge whenever they like. I have stayed a few times and I have seen the lounge quite full.

We were in a room closest to the elevators and took food back regularly. Tables were full a lot and kids weren't always awake when we were. I would sneak out when everyone was asleep and grab some breakfast but couldn't stay cuz my DH was already at the gym or whatever reason. I brought back Jamba juice for a drink later and the snacks at night were quite filling, so I wasn't buying dinner. Just the soup appetizer was enough for a meal for me. 1 or 2 uncrustables is more than enough for my kids for dinner. We never walked off wiht mroe than I knew we could eat and maybe got a plateful of stuff to rbing back to the room if I was the only one out there and the rest of the family was waiting in the room.

I would never take all of the item but would take a couple. My upcoming trip, you will see me in the BWI lounge (carousel club ?) I will be taking some food back to the room, maybe a bagel or something or some cookies. I hope it doesn't hurt you that I do this. My room will be nowhere close to the lounge so it will be quite a walk since I'll be staying in a Villa.

I think the food is there for your enjoyment, wether you decide to eat it there or take it back to your room to enjoy half dressed or down by the pool while swimming.

After 7 nights of savannah view we moved to CL for our last night before leaving, and while the lounge and it's services were great we had terrible neighbors. We were in a studio, 6209, and the room next to us, the children were extremely loud, jumping off of things in the room, screaming, literally bouncing off the walls, all while hearing parents in the room as well. This went on until 11:00 pm, which was incredibly rude in my opinion. At one point, one of the kids must have hurt himself, and started crying, to which the other little one kept asking, "are you okay?" Meanwhile, no parents jumped in, and the festivities began minutes later. I kept opening the door thinking it was noise from the lobby, but it wasn't.

I spoke with the woman at the concierge desk the next morning and she didn't really seem to care, just told me to call the front desk next time. Meanwhile our 7 night stay in savannah view, were as quiet as could be.

We stayed CL in April, there were 6 of us, and we loved it! We will be there again for Thanksgiving. The cast members were fantastic and really tried to accommodate my son who has food allergies. I asked if it was o.k. to bring food to our room and they said, "No problem, mousekeeping will even pick up the plates from your room.". We did witness very bad manners from a Dad who instructed his two children, pretty loudly, to get all of the desserts when they were replenished because Mom really liked them. The children did as instructed and the rest of us had to wait 15 minutes or so for the next round. I am happy to report he was not DVC.
