I have a 1 br AKV concerierge reserved for next year. Do these rooms have the 2nd bathroom? What type of food is served in the lounge? I'm so excited at my accomplishment to get this room :cloud9: but my DS wants to move to BCV at our 7 mo window. :confused3 She is 16 and won't swim in the pool.

The 1-bedroom units in Jambo House only have a single bathroom.

One bathroom and it is off a main hall between the master bedroom and the main living area.

The food offerings change and vary all the time. There is usually a good selection for breakfast, and then there are snacks and entree items pluse the must fun thing, which is dessert offerings from Jiko and Boma in the evening. They go fast though!;)

Also be aware that of the five potential 1BRs that are concierge, 3 have savanna view and 2 pool view and thus you might want to put in a request for a view if you want savanna (not guaranteed). As to that single bathroom also be aware it is a combined tub/shower as all 1BRs in Jambo are, only Kidani has the separate tub and shower which is in all 1BRs there.

You should keep the concierge room, they're wonderful! And very hard to get.

Do you plan on doing the sunrise safari? That was the highlight when I stayed there in June 2008. The evening food was good but there isn't alot of it and it gets grabbed up pretty quick when it's put out. The breakfast food is pretty much a continental breakfast. We had a pool view 1 BR the first night and then switched to the HA savannah view. Kidani was still under construction at the time and the view wasn't that great, didn't see alot of animals.

I have to say the time we stayed at Concierge level, the only reason we would book again was to get access to the Sunrise Safari (which is great.)

But I wouldn't book it for the lounge. I mean it's nice, to grab a snack at, but the snacks are not worth the extra points. I'd rather stop at Publix/Target on the way to the park.

oh...I need a tub for DS...Should I call to make the specific request not to get this room...What if we do get it anyway? I have made requests before and they have not be honored...

This would be very bad :scared1:

Just an FYI about the evening "desserts" in concierge. We stayed there twice last year, with our last visit being in December. Unlike the offerings in the past, it is now mostly cookies or very small brownies and tarts, and they are not replenished but a few times so we often stopped by to grab a bite and there was either a few cookies left or nothing. They no longer had the mini zebra domes or anything that resembled desserts from Boma and Jiko. Since DVC has offered member stays on points, the lounge has seriously decreased in variety and quality of food. Breakfast is still quite nice. It's not that there aren't sufficient snack/food items, it's just that every evening is now the same with the exception of two hot appetizers which are extremely tiny. They've even put out smaller plates, wine, and cordial glasses to encourage you to take less. I don't book for the food though and we still enjoy concierge but it sure has changed, and not for the better.---Kathy

with only 5 1beds in CL there may not be much choice if any. I know we were stuck as there was no other CL villa available and we waited after 3 for that one. I was willing to switch resorts but no go.
I was not aware that 1 of the cl villas was sans tub. That was a big part of us using the extra points
now I only book cl studios and don't worry about The view because neither is worth moving over
I don't mean to sound overly negative, jmo.

Our family stayed AKV-CL last Dec. Part of our group was in a 1 Bdrm Savannah view, & the other group was in a 1 Bdrm pool view. The Savannah view room had lower kitchen counters & stove, and no island table. The door that would connect to the studio was after the kitchen. The bathroom had sliding doors, instead of regular doors. There was a smaller vanity area. We thought it must have been the HA unit, but I was confused because it had a tub/shower. I thought all HA's had the roll-in shower. The pool view room had the connecting door right inside the front door. Overall, they just seemed to be set up totally different.

Was our Savannah view room a HA? How many total HA rooms are in the CL of AKV?

There are two kinds of HA rooms. One has the roll-in shower the other does not. Two of the five CL 1BRs are HA, one of each type. They are both on the savanna side. The 1BR closest to the lounge (6202) does not have a tub. The 1BR next door (6205) does have a tub but is as you describe.

The DVC rooms in Jambo House are all converted hotel rooms. Because of the structure of the building, the connecting door between the 1BR and studio in some of the rooms is in the entryway. In other rooms, the connecting door is in the living area, just past the kitchen.

Here is the floor plan for the CL rooms. (ETA: This diagram gives the impression that the savanna view CL rooms are directly across a hallway from the pool view CL rooms. In fact, they run along opposite sides of the AKL lobby. I just copied the savanna view rooms and pool view rooms on to one diagram for convenience.)

Just an FYI on the desserts. We requested zebra domes and they actually went and got some for us one night.

We have stayed on both sides...pool view side and savannah view side. Frankly the savannah view was not the greatest from the corner where we were last December, and I would likely request pool view to make sure I didn't get a handicapped acciessible room. We have loved our CL stays, but I mostly like them for the extra tours we can book. Now that I have done all of them, I don't see us staying CL for quite awhile again.
