AKV add on- UGH, we got wait listed

At the 11th hour we jumped on the AKV add on before the price went up. We had been kicking around doing an add on for some time and had been checking the resales, but my mom (who is co-financing the points) wasn't ready to commit. All of a sudden she fell in love with AKV and decided to move on Sunday and we got through Monday and locked in 100 points for AKV at the $93 a point.

Well, my guide just called me and there is a problem. They are out of June use year (which is our SSR contract) so we had taken August. Apparently you have to add on with the same use year if buying from Disney unless you buy at least the 160. So now we are wait-listed for a June use year. UGH! We were all ready and need those points to book our January stay. He is hoping it will only take a few weeks....they get more points as occupancy permits are released. They will continue to honor the $93 a point, but I am just so impatient.....

Has anyone else had a good experience with the wait list?

We ran into a similar problem with SSR points. We planned to purchase 150 points with an October UY in December. If we bought before the end of the year, we would get the bonus points being offered at the time. Well, just as we were about to "close", our guide told us they were out of Oct. UY, therefore forfeiting the bonus points. I was upset since it was something that came up well after all the paperwork was filed so I kinda said I'd have to think about ti and get back to him. Well, somehow he was able to come up with the points for an Oct UY.

I am not telling you to call his bluff, just giving you a little hope that they will find the points for you.

That's all they can sell right now. Units have to be declared into the association before it can be sold, and they can't sell the unbuilt building.

Thanks for the support! They locked in the $93 price/pt, so I am not too worried, but it just sticks cause we were all ready to make it official.

If your DM loves it there, i would have bought the 160 points right away, saves you time in the future to do another add on at AKL. You will be surprise how fast the rooms book up at the 11 month window at AKL and if you wanted to use your ssr points for AKL you will have to wait for the 7 month window and i bet you will end up on waitlists. I just see AKL being the popular resort for a while. good luck and pixie dust to you
