We only have a family of 5 but we are planning on skipping the dining plan this time and cooking all but 1 of our breakfast's in our room. We are planning on 1 counter service/snack meal per day and 1 sit down meal per day. Our breakfast usually is bagels, english muffins, cereal, pop tarts, I might venture out this time and do pancakes one day and eggs one day. If we eat breakfast in our room, we will usually do a snack in the afternoon or a quick service meal and then a sit down dinner. Or we have done a late lunch, which is cheaper than dinner and something small around early evening.
I opted for the 2 bedroom lockoff in Jambo house/Value for our upcoming trip. It will be a great way to save money, as there are several viewing areas to see the animals. I know my kids, they will want to look, but after 5 minutes, they'll be ready to do something else. Sitting on my balcony all day looking at the giraffes won't be happening.
I throw 5 cold bottles of water in my back pack, and I've never been asked to remove them at the check point. I bring the crystal lite single packets to make iced tea or lemonade. Go to a water fountain and refill your bottle.
Usually we get the kids a popcorn or ice cream but if we have a breakfast this will usually hold them to dinner time.
My brother went to Disney recently and did the
DDP without the park hopper option to save money. That worked well for his family, they were there for a week and just went to one park per day!
Have fun planning, there are alot of ways to save money!
