Does anyone know what the pools are like at the AKL are they better than SSR. I am planning a trip for Aug 08 and I have three kids ages 6,4,and almost 3 Iam trying to figure out what would be the best resort for them.

AKL has the better pool in my opinion and the resort itself would be ideal for children the ages ou have. SSR does have a new pool area by the Grandstand but my vote is AKL!!!

I can't really say if SSR pools are better or worse than AKL. Stayed at both, but we didn't have time at SSR except to look at the pools.

SSR has the main pool and severel quiet pools. AKL just has one pool. SSR has the splash area, where the water jumps out of the ground by the main pool.

AKL has a water slide, and a zero entry pool if they helps. Not sure about SSR.

If your staying dvc at SSR and not at AKL, you also might want to factor in the convenience of the microwave in the room, i believe the fridges in the stdios at SSR are bigger than the ones in the regular rooms at AKL. Plus, you get toaster at SSR.

THe microwave might be great for warming up foods for the kids at late night,early morning snacks.

Looking at the pics, SSR has zero entry and a slide too. That is at the main pool.

AKL has the largest pool on property. It is zero entry on one end and a small slide and steps on the other end. There are 2 hot tubs near the pool and a playground. It is also right outside the CS food area Mara and the laundry area is right there. We loved AKL but have never stayed at SSR.
