For $700 more our honeymoon could be at AKL for 10 nights instead of a split stay with POR for 7 nights and 3 nights at AKL. Would it be worth it?

only for a savannah view. And if you have some resort days. AKL IMHO is not worth it unless you spend time at the resort so much to. and for a 10 day stay have you looked into renting points for the DVC side.

What about a 5 night PORS and 5 night AKL split? I realize AKL is beautiful and a deluxe (I've been there but never stayed there), but there are advantages of several days at PORS too. A carriage ride is beautiful (romantic for a honeymoon) around the PO resorts and the boat to Disney Springs offers a variety of great dining. Your PORS could be more park intensive and AKL more resort intensive maybe? Either way, beautiful resorts! Congratulations on your honeymoon.

I have resort days built in as of right now. I thought about DVC but I’m a TA and I’d rather make the commission and not have to pay up front

Thank you! This is what my original plan was based on. My fiancé picked AKL and he’s never been to Disney. I’m also a bit concerned about a split stay even though I know all the logistics of it

We often do split stays. Our summer stay will be PORS and Beach Club (we do the longer stay at PORS as it's cheaper and the shorter, yet more relaxing stay, at BC to enjoy resort more). It's not too bad at all- nice way to try more than one resort:-) Our DD's are teens so they can pack and move their own things, but it could be more difficult with little ones and a split stay.

You’re making this harder lol

that sounds like a dream! Congrats! But I thought I would mention that over in the AKL thread we are all talking about how the Uzima pool will be closed from 9/1 through winter 2018. we all received a email about it. Depending on when you will be staying you might want to consider that.

Thanks for the update but it’s not until May 2019! I’m just getting prepped to book when packages release

Since you still have a year to work with, have you considered renting DVC points to stay at AKV? You could likely get it for the same or less than your current split stay plan. Definitely something to look into and decide on before the 11 month mark (when home resort owners can book).

It’s a honeymoon, so I say splurge (if that’s where you want to stay).

I’ve stayed at both and love them both though, so I can see the appeal of a split stay. Congrats!

We’d do DVC but we wouldn’t have the money upfront like you need the majority of the time. Plus I’m a TA so I make commissions.

It all depends on your budget of course and how much $700 extra will "hurt." But DH and I spent 10 nights of our honeymoon at AKL - our entire time at Disney (way back in 2007) and we really enjoyed it. I like to unpack and settle into a room when I am going to be there for several nights so switching wouldn't be my first choice. Plus there is a lot of things to see and do at AKL. So if you can swing $700 more I would go for the entire 10-day stay at AKL.

Just like you and your fiance, DH's first trip to WDW was on our honeymoon. We have been back eight times since then and he has fallen in love with WDW just as much as me! So here's to hoping your fiance loves WDW that much!
