Normally I would go with my fav. resort - POLY, but, it appears the volcano pool is going to be closed during the days in Sept 2013 that I am going. Is this confirmed? I have never stayed at AKL, but have wanted to in the past. Thoughts? :hourglass

I see no indication of pool closing at the Poly for September 2013, in any refurb info source I can find.

I'd pick Poly over AKL, myself, in most cases.

According to this there is... but I also have read in other places that the refurb is going to change. If the pool is indeed going to be closed during your stay then I would change over. I like to spend time at the resort as well and I know I would be upset if it was closed. :)

Yes, I read it there.

Volcano Feature Pool closed 9/9/2013- 9/20/2013

I love both places, but if the pool is closed I would head over to the AKL!

Polynesian recreation department says the pool closure is pushed out to January.

I love the AKL but the rooms are much smaller, location is too isolated (no other resorts to visit for food and shopping) and the transportation is no where near that of the Polynesian. Still a great place to stay with great theming and love going there just to eat.

I am in love with AKL - we stayed at Kidani Village 3 times now. Beautiful resort, still new-like, AMAZING savanna views from our balcony, watching the giraffes and zebras graze right outside our room every evening is awesome. The pool is great, they have fun activities, and the restaurants are good. You feel like you are in another world. It is farther from the other parks other than AK but it isnt bad at all. Its truly a beautiful, relaxing place to be.

AKL is a great resort, but the Poly is :cloud9:. If there was a chance of the volcano pool being closed, it would be a deal breaker for me as well. But if it has been rescheduled for January, I'd stick with the Poly :goodvibes.

:goodvibes I've stayed at both AKL Club Level,(Jan 2008/ Sept 2009) and POLY CL (just this last October), and I can say without a doubt that AKL wins hands down for us....we just love the ambience of AKL, and my whole family prefers it over anywhere else! Yes, it may be a little bit farther away, but the monorail isn't always the most efficient means of transportation either. The bus ride at AKL seriously didn't faze us at all, it was efficient, prompt and best part air-conditioned with another person driving, so I really did not mind!!

Our next trip will be Jan 2015, and with 2 almost adult kiddos coming along, I am seriously contemplating Kidani for my first time....it looks beautiful, the rooms actually look the nicest out of any resort I've seen! If only I wasn't such a club level loving gal, it would be a very easy choice! my choices are between BWI Deluxe room and Kidani 1 BDRM. It will be a hard choice! In your case , however, you can't go wrong with AKL....beautiful pool, beautiful grounds, a vacation within a vacation, such a wonderful place to stay!!! 100%% recommend it.
