AKL - Very Specific Transportation Questions

I had hoped to stay at one of the Monorail resorts, but my dates didn't work with the AP and BAT codes. I did manage to get a good rate for AKL through the email postcard. Thinking I was going to get into a monorail resort, I made all of my PS's with this in mind. My family's touring schedule might make it difficult to get to some of my resort PS's, such as Pirate's Cruise at GF, Hoop Dee Doo, Chef Mickey's and O'Hana. I'm not adverse to paying for a taxi to get my family around in a pinch, but I'm traveling with a 6, 4 and 2 year old and will not have any car seats. I therefore presume that taxis are out.

AKL veterans, what are your thoughts?

I find it easier when I stay at AKL to have a car, but if that isn't feasable, the bus transportation is very good at AKL just a little more time consuming for later activities. You will have to go DTD and then take a bus back for anything later in the evening like Chef Mickey's and O'Hana's if the parks are closed. If any of the special events are running that night buses run as well. Buses also run an hour after closing and you didn't post your PS times.

I know that Hoop De Doo has special buses.

Thanks for the info Lorax. For my resort PS's, do I understand you correctly that I will need to take a bus from AKL to DTD and then hop on another resort specific bus? As for Hoop Dee Doo, will there be a HDD bus that runs direct from AKL to FW?

I appreciate the advice.

I would go to the MK and then hop the boat to FW...HDDR is right next to the boat dock. This, of course, assumes that the MK is open before and after the show. Everytime that we have stayed at the AKL, we've had no problems with transportation. If the AK is open, you can ride there (takes about 5 minutes) and then catch a bus to your destination. This plan will not work after the AK closes, however. My thoughts in a nutshell are to travel to the park closest your destination and swap transportation there unless the parks are closed, in which case I would go to DTD.

Just take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, and catch the Monorail or Boat from there. To get back, if there is an open park, go there and transfer. Otherwise, DTD would be the option. After the Hoop, there are also sometimes Resort buses that can take you back.

A side note on Taxis, a lot of the Checker Cabs do have carseats.
