For those who have stayed at AKL how is the transportation??? Does it seem like a long way from the parks

We are trying to decide between two rooms at the Beach Club and Three rooms at AKL.

IMHO I think the transportation from AKL is great. Some will say it is so far away and removed from everything, but it is really not that far away. One of the things I like about AKL transporation is that they do not share busses with any other resorts. I found the longest wait to be 10 minutes or so...which was mostly due to us having just missed a bus! The ride to MK was about 15 minutes, the Studios and Epcot were 10 minutes or so, AK was like 2 minutes, and DTD was about 15 minutes.

We stayed at AKL last summer and the buses were very timely. The one problem we experienced was that they were so crowded that we had to stand most of the time in a large, tight crowd which made the ride seem much longer than it was. The upside, though, was when you arrived at AKL at the end of the day, it was a wonderful place to be.

I think AKL is one of the best resorts as far as transportation goes. We stayed there and did not feel far removed at all.

The busses at AKL do not share w/other resorts which is a major plus. We've also stayed at the Polynesian- sure its quick getting to the MK, but when you take a bus you share w/the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian. Coming back from the water parks, MGM, AK, and DTD seemed to take FOREVER!

Monorails and boats are more for fun- not necessarily faster than taking a bus.

I'd like to preface my remarks that on our May trip at AKL we had a wonderful time and overall little problem with the busses. That said, I must say that I've never had a series of drivers who drove so slow. The 2 times I could see the speedometer (standing near driver on crowded bus), they never went over 25mph. I know that others did similar speeds. Yugos were passing us for crying out loud. We started calling it the "AKL Yertle the Turtle route:) This made many trips seem eternal, especially on crowded busses. I know it's the luck of the draw but I'm glad I didn't play poker this trip.

I have never ever had a transportation issue at AKL.

I also agree that AKL transportation is great. We went last year during a very busy time of year (end of June) and we never waited long for AKL busses. There were plenty of them and only once was there standing room only. Also, I did not feel they were a far ride from the parks at all.
