akl suite discounts & gf rpc disc.

Just planning a long weekend in Dec. Anyone know if the suites at akl are ever discounted? Also, are there really only 2 GF RPC rooms with a AAA discount?

the suites are never discounted, but we can always hope!

We were able to get a suite at the AKL at a discounted rate when we checked in. I was not able to get a discount on it in advance when I made my reservation.

If you want more space or privacy, you might be best off renting DVC points and getting a villa at one of the DVR resorts.

We had a regular CL room booked at a discounted rate. When we checked in, I inquired as to the cost of upgrading to a suite, and was given a 1BR suite for the difference between rack rate of the CL room and the rack rate of the suite. Then they upgraded us for free to a 2BR suite.

So let's put it into numbers (fictitious!)

Rack rate of CL room $100
Discounted rate charged for CL room $50
Rack rate of 1BR suite $200
Actual rate paid for 1BR suite $150
Rack rate of 2BR suite $300
Actual cost paid for 2BR suite $150

I wouldn't count on that ever happening again. We were there at a slow time of the year. We were repeat AKL CL guests, and it was my birthday.

I don't know about AAA discounts for GF RPC, but we were so lucky to get an AP discount on a honeymoon room at the GF RPC. I was shocked that we were able to get it!

We always booked the suite for the nights that I needed it at full rack rate.
And the other nights, we had a AP rate on the concierge room.
They simply kept us in the suite, for the difference, like Anne just explained above.
(plus, it was a 2 bedroom for the price of a 1 bedroom!)

Main reason....we are REPEAT, repeat, repeat AKL CL guests.

Book what you want at the rate you're willing to pay, and anything else that comes along is gravy!
Best way to look at it.
