AKL storytelling?

Can anyone tell me about "storytelling" at AKl, particularly what time it is held? Thanks.

When you check in at the Lodge, you will be given a sheet with the layout of the hotel, on the back it lists all the special events and times. I'm sure the time varies with the season. We enjoyed our storytelling experience. It is out back around the fire pit with large rocking chairs. We had arranged our dinner at Jiko to follow, it was just perfect. You will just love it!

Do you think a pre-schooler would enjoy story-telling at AKL?

My DD will turn three while we are there next week.

IMO the stories are a little old for a 3 year old. The ones we heard were for older kids and adults - I don't think a preschooler would have understood them. I don't remember seeing any young kids there either. We were there in August and I think that the time was 8:00 (I know that it was pretty dark).

When we were there in May 2003 it was at 6pm or 6:30pm. My nephew had just turned 3 the week before we went and he went to story telling twice and enjoyed it. There were other young children there when we were there also.

When we were there last March, it was held at 6:30 p.m. The story we heard was about the boy and the lion, which is a little more adult, but there were young children listening and they seemed to be enthralled with the storyteller, regardless of the subject matter!

I agree! Your 3-y-o will love just being there! The firepit is magnificent and being outdoors by the fire with a group and listening to a story will be fascinating, even if your daughter doesn't totally follow the story. Of course, being a girl she probably WILL follow right along...
