AKL std view-what to ask for?

I was lucky enough to get the $139/nt rate at AKL (std view) for the first 3 nights of our June WDW trip. Does anyone have any suggestions on what special requests I should ask for to have a chance at a view of any animals? Thanks.

The standard views overlook the bus stop or parking lot. The only animals you're likely to see from your room will have 2 legs.
There are a number of public savannah viewing areas scattered throughout the lodge.

I would study the resort maps and the frequently asked questions regarding room locations and try to get a room located across the hall from an open viewing location...then fax this is as a request.

You could always hope to get an upgrade to a pool view - some have posted that this happened for them. Or ask if there is any availability during your stay for a savannah view - it may cost more but it might not cost what it would have if you'd booked it from the start.

We are looking forward to our trip to AKL in May - now about those May hours....

The std. view rooms on the 1sr floor by the buss stop are horrific. I can't believe disney even puts guests in them. In fact we even went to the front desk and asked if those were guest rooms we thought maybe rooms for the caretakers but nope they are guest rooms. I told them they should be ashamed if they ever put anyone in those rooms. They have a solid wall 3/4 way up the window!!!

I would request 3rd or 4th floor for sure so you don't end up there. Otherwise there are plenty of public viewing placed to relax and watch the animals. I also thought the pool view rooms were nice if you want to "hedge" your bet.
