how often do the buse's come- is there some type of schedule?
ie... 6:15 am, 6:30 am ...... or do they just come whenever?

would we be better off taking our car to MK or waiting for the bus

thanks for any help

We were at the AKL for 2 weeks this past spring. We drove down and never used our car 2 times while we were at WDW. The busses were great we never waited more then 10 minutes the entire time. The only time we drove was when we were going from AKL to the CSR for dinner because the only way to get to another resort is to go to Downtown disney then switch to your destination which takes forever. The other time we drove to the All- Stars to check the Movies resort.

There's really no need to decide now, try the busses when you get there and then if you don't like it, drive. Personally I love the busses, it just feels more like vacation to me when I don't have to be in my own car-lol. Plus like not having to deal with the parking lots and trams and stuff, it's nice being droped off up front.

Have a GREAT trip!!!!!

PS- they didn't have EE when we were there but every morning they had managers at the bus stops and I think the most we waited was maybe 5 minutes for a bus.

We take the buses. When you factor in the time it takes to go park, and wait for a parking tram, it seems to me that driving takes just as long if not longer than the buses. Another advantage to the buses is (ESPECIALLY on EE days) when the park you are in gets full, you can just hop a bus to another park, and get back to your resort from there; no need to get to your car, drive, park again, etc.

The only exceptions for us are, as already mentioned, to get from one resort to another, and perhaps to get to the parks or another resort for a particularily early PS. Or maybe to go to the water parks where the buses run less frequently.

As others have said, I don't remember waiting more than 5 minutes or so for a bus at AKL.

We took our car once to MK, never again! The parking lot is on the other side of the lagoon, so you have to take Disney transportation (boat or monorail) to get there anyways! And if you park far enough away, you get to ride in one of the trams too... Disney buses drop you off right in front of the park, although we waited at AKL for over 25 minutes for an EPCOT bus for our 8:30 AM Princess Breakfast in Norway. That was our only long wait, and there was a CM with a clipboard at the bus station that you could get info from.

We stayed at AKL this past February and used the buses and thought they were great. They run every 10 - 15 minutes. But most times you'll get a bus within 5 - 10 minutes. We're staying there again in February 2003 and have no intention on renting a car!:D

We drove to WDW but never moved our minivan for the seven days we were there. I think the WDW bus system is flawless. Never waited more than 10 minutes and 90% of the time we only waited 1 or 2 minutes until a bus going where we wanted arrived. My daughter loved saying, "Is that our bus?" And we would tell her to look for one that started with an "E" when we went to Epcot. Or an "M" when we went to Magic Kingdom. WDW has been doing the bus deal a long time. They have it alllll figured out. More buses run in the morning going to the resorts and more run at night coming back. Leave the driving to them!

We just returned last Saturday from 12 wonderful days at AKL! We used the busses and the bus system was GREAT! We never waited for longer that 10 minutes for a bus and usually the bus was there in less than 5 minutes!:p

The longest wait that we had for the bus was actually after the Fantasmic show on Friday night...we waited 15 minutes only because they could not get all of the people at the bus stop on one bus. Other than this the bus was rarely full!

Have a great trip!!!

We also had a car at AKL but never really used it (unless we went to Downtown Disney or offsite). We always used the bus system and had no problems - never waited more than 10 minutes.

I think it comes down to personal perference. We were at AKL for 9 days and used car all the time (took bus once) DH hates any kind of public transit. Even though the Disney Transportation is excellent, we didn't have any problems or hastles using the car.

We were there Labor Day Weekend. The resort was full and the buses were never crowded!!! It was great!!!! We had to get to 8am Ps's at both AK and MK. Get to the bus stop right at or before 7am- you should be fine for EE. There was a CM there in the mornings, finding out where everyone was headed.

Just back from AKL, never had to wait more then 5-10 minutes for a bus. We took advantage of EE at all the parks and the buses were great. They also run way after park closings. To me. it looks like the walk to your car in the parking lot and the wait for the tram to get to your car is alot more time consuming than taking the bus.
