AKL or WL???

WL is great if you’re going to Magic Kingdom. They have a really nice boat ride there. If you have a lot of downtime at your resort Animal Kingdom Lodge with a savanna view room is great, but only if you have time to actually enjoy the view

What is your goal? Parks or chill at your hotel? Are you a particular fan of AK or animal lover? Do the food options appeal at AKL or WL/MK area? If you’re at WL the monorail loop is open to you because it’s so easy to take a boat to CR (after 3 or 4pm). But, AKL has very unique food options between Jambo and Kidani that are entirely different from what you’ll find at WL/MK area.

The boat(s) between the CR, Ft Wilderness run a clockwise, and counter-clockwise loop. They run 3 PM until 10:45 PM.

@parith1114 if you want to be closer to more dining, drinking, and action I would suggest the WL. But it all comes down to how do you want to spend your Solo time?

For me, AKL hands down.

I am just not into the WL theme.

Thanks for the insight, it's just a four night trip. I'm an AP holder, so don't feel the need to spend every minute in the park, but love to take advantage of the extra evening hours when applicable. I will definitely do take at least one morning to sleep in, and probably spend some time at the pool. I guess I'm just a little concerned about the construction at WL.

I will visit all four parks at some point. I'm an AP holder so don't do rope drop to park close, but do enjoy some time in the parks.
You should definitely pick the resort that's closest to your most enjoyed park. If you love MK a lot, I would stay at WL. If you love AK a lot, I would do similar at the namesaked AKL.

WL all the way all the time! I just don't like the "vibe" at AKL, even though structurally the two resorts are quite similar. I don't know what it is, I just feel strange there. AKL is too far away from everything except DAK and it can be very spread out, depending on where you are staying. The WL is closer to other resorts so more dining options. You have the boat or bus to the parks, plus a quick bus to FW if you want to explore there. I like the laid back feel of the WL but being close enough to everything else. I actually like it's not on the monorail, it makes it a little more difficult for non-resort guests to get there. Though AKL is the same when it comes to that! I will agree that either choice has benefits!

We just stayed at WL last month. We were also debating AKL. We chose WL bc of the theming, to us the better food options - Geyser Point is so great ( food and view) and the boat ride to MK. The construction was just a small part of resort and didn’t bother us at all. We loved it there! Good luck with your decision.
