AKL or Poly - which one?

I have been going back and forth on this and am driving myself crazy. Right now we have a 6 night/7day stay booked at the AKL standard view with deluxe dining. For about $130 less, we can stay at the Poly for 4 nights/5 days with deluxe dining. My question is which one would you pick? Is the Poly worth it to lose those 2 days? Thanks!

Personally, I'd pick two extra days every time. Visits are short enough, as it is. I want every second. :goodvibes

I agree that if you can afford the extra two days you should keep the reservation at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, however I would still say the Polynesian is a better Resort.

As someone who has stayed at the AKL and the Poly, I would stick with the AKL simply so you can stay longer. The Poly is definitely nice but when it comes down to it, the longer stay wins out IMO. :thumbsup2

There is no question that I would pick to stay longer! I think you would enjoy the Poly while you were there, but would be sad leaving knowing you could have stayed 2 extra days!

We just cancled our Poly stay and switched to the AKL. To us it was the extra money to have for other stuff.

I've stayed at both and like the rooms at AKL much better, my husband and I were not impressed with the Poly.

I would definitely choose staying longer.

What didn't you like about it? We've never stayed there, but were thinking about switching from WL over to Poly for the monorail convenience. I've always loved the atmosphere of the Great Ceremonial House, and it seems like a nice resort to walk around.

It's hard to argue with that logic, so I won't. AKL is a great ressort! In some ways better than the Poly IMHO.

Our opionion is the opposite...we've stayed at both and enjoyed the Poly much more. Guess that's why there are so many resorts to choose from...everyone's taste is different!

If you don't mind the bus rides to the parks, stay AKL and stay longer. Personally, I might opt for a shorter stay just to get better transportation. My dd1 gets motion sickness and arrived at the parks each morning feeling ill from the long bus rides. On the day we hit EMH at MK, she actually threw up on the bus. Yuck. Good thing we had a plastic shopping bag with us.

What we did not like at the Poly?
Well for the price you get a very nice place to walk around but the quality of the room itself does not justify the price, there room we were at on Rarotonga 2801 was noisy, lots of rattling when AC or bathroom fan was on, there was a big bang floor rattling noise every so often that I think had to do with huge AC unit outside below our fake balcony room window, at first we figured eventually we would not mind it but the longer the days the more annoying it got and he only reason we did not complaint and moved was because I did not feel like packing and unpacking all over again.
We only got to walk around a little bit becaused we spend most of the day walking in the parks and after getting back all we wanted to do was rest, also most afternoons during our stay it rained heavy.
My husband did not like that the shower was small/low for him and he says for anyone over 6 feet tall. The resort was packed, even with ADR for breakfast we waited 30min to be seated at Ohanas and noticed that everytime we wanted to get some food, whether it was Kona, Ohana's or Capt Cooks the tables were limited, that may not be the case depending on how crowded resort is when you arrive.
I guess some love some don't, we did not.
