We will likely be lucky enough to stay 2 nights/3 days on property July 1 - July 3 this year. Where should we stay? We have 3 boys, ages 8, 6, and 2 and we have previously stayed (and loved) the Poly. Do we try something new? We will have our van onsite for the first time, too. I am slightly gun-shy because we recently stayed at the Contemporary to try something new and I did not like it at all. Here's what we like about the Poly: the monorail, the POOL!, and the restaurants, and the music they pipe everywhere.

I'm considering AKL Savannah View Deluxe Whatever...not concierge. I was hoping for bunkbeds for the kids 'cause I think they'll like that. How does the pool compare to the Poly? Is it as fun and is there a fun area for the adults to relax, have a cocktail and watch the kids swim? I heard the restaurants are good. How is it driving to other parks? Is parking at the resort as easy as the Poly? In short, do you think we'll be as happy at the AKL?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm voting for Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a beautiful resort, pool area is zero entry, great food, and always something to look at. I do like the Poly, but for something new you can't go wrong with the AKL.

Although I love AKL and am going back in a couple of months AND although I've never stayed at the Poly, I think that with a 2-year-old and for such a brief stay, you would be happier at Poly. I hate to say that, and trying something new might be what's best for you since you're considering it, but I just know how MUCH of a difference it made when my DD(7) was younger and we stayed at GF to be right on the monorail for MK and Epcot - and to be able to take the boat back to the resort from MK. You also have monorail access to so many of the best character meals. In addition, kids who've been to both seem to prefer the Poly pool to AKL.
I don't think you can go wrong with either resort - the AKL is awesome and I love its many activities, theming, restaurants, etc. but b/c of the 2-year-old, I'd recommend Poly. Good Luck!:earsgirl:

I voted Poly! Since you'll be there for such a short time with 3 little kids, I'm thinking you need the convenience of the Poly.

For a longer trip - perhaps you could try something new or do a split stay between the Poly and AKL.

Uncle Albert
14 days to go and I'll be at the Poly!

I'm with Uncle Albert on this one, also.

But, the AKL concierge rooms are DELUXE and do have bunk beds!
Cool!
DS loved watching the animals, at alllll hours of the night!:p
And the pool is nice, zero entry and a great pool bar.
The arcade room is right next to the Mara and the pool area, so I could keep track of him!

Poly this time, but put the AKL on your "need to stay soon" list!

I liked AKL a lot when I stayed there, but it's just not the Poly!

I vote for staying at the Polynesian, and planning a meal over at AKL, with time to explore the resort afterwards. This way, you get to experience the resort, as well as decide if it's a good place for the future!

Wow! Thanks guys! I was sorta hoping for this response....I think you are right, PolyPrincess. I'm leaning toward staying at the Poly and maybe planning a meal over at AKL...especially since we could drive there ourselves if we want! Any other thoughts will be well taken into consideration:D

We are having the same hard decision also. We are going on big family trip in June. We are staying at BWV on our DVC points May 30-June 4, RPR club level June 4-7 and then concierge at either AKL or Poly. I want to stay at both. I have never stayed the Poly and have stayed savannah view at AKL before.
At AKL do they have some deluxe rooms that are the 2 queens and a daybed? My 2 oldest a kind of big for bunk beds.
