AKL or CS?

This may seem like an apples to oranges comparison between a deluxe and a moderate, but here is my question. With the choice between a standard view room at AKL or a "standard" type room at CS, which would be the better pick? From what I can see, they're both beautiful, well liked resorts. Would not having the Savanah view detract alot from AKL? Thanks in advance for your help!

For me its CSR. Save the money and use it eslewhere on your vacation

I have stayed in AKL, Savannah View and in CBR, but not CSR (as far as mods go) we are staying in CSR in a few weeks when my husband and I go alone. Anyway, back to your question, AKL is a beautiful hotel, but without the savannah view I would not choose to stay there. The theming is very nice, but I did not find the rooms to be incredibly different than in moderates. Here the savannah view makes all the difference. (The pool is great as well) If you can save some money by not staying at AKL, I would and put it aside for a savannah view in the future and stay there and enjoy it then

AKL without a doubt!! Even in a 'standard' room I would certainly choose AKL over CSR. There's also a very good chance that you could be upgraded at AKL if you are there during a time when they aren't booked solid. There really aren't many 'standard' rooms at AKL compared to the total number of rooms. Last time I stayed there I had a standard room booked and was upgraded to a savannah room even before I checked in

yes, CSR does not share buses with any other resorts.

I would definitely go with CSR and save the money. CSR is deluxe-lite. Great transportation, awesome main pool area and beautiful grounds and landscaping. No question for me. And you're just as easily to get an upgrade at CSR to a waterview room as you would be at AKL.

At AKL you sit out on your balcony to enjoy the view ... at CSR you don't really enjoy a water view from your room (unless you want to stand at your window or out on the walkway).

You're right buzz, the price is a huge difference.

I guess if you are going to spend loads of time at your resort you may want to sit on a balcony to watch a few animals but if you are spending most of the time at the parks and just use the resort to sleep and shower, I can't justify the prices of the deluxes. JMO

It really depends on what you really want out of the hotel and what your traveling party consists of. We loved both of them ! The $$ would be the deciding factor for me (not the hotel itself).

I wouldn't trade our stays at AKL for anything, it is an awesome hotel and we will return at some point.

BUT, on our last trip.......first we are in the pool the first day and DH says "Where is the pyramid?" Okay, I could have saved some money.....then DS & DD tell me they want to go back to CSR next time where there is more for the teens to do. AKL is gorgeous, but once the kids are over the animals there was nothing left for them to do. They want the water sports, bikes, running path, volleyball........all the activity that CSR has. PLUS, a bigger pool, longer slide and huge hot tub. And obviously my Dh wants a pyramid outside his room

CSR is very nice, however, AKL - hands down worth it.

AKL - you do not need a savanah view. There are lots of Look-out area that you can enjoy. The overall feel of the hotel is exquisite and the restaurants are fabulous.

It's a vacation - enjoy it!
