AKL Night Viewing

Hello All,
Can someone tell me about the "night Viewing" at AkL?
We have 7:30 PM ADR's for dinner at Jiko on a Friday night in October. I thought we (DH and Adult DS) would go early (or stay late) to experience the AKL as well - they have never seen it. I read on the Restaurant Board that night viewing starts at 9 PM.
Now I am confused. Is it a specific program or just an area you go to to see the animals?
What would you experts all suggest for 3 newbies to experinece the Lodge around a dinner reservation? I want DH and DS to appreciate the AKL as much as I did when I was at Jiko's (without them) last year.

There is no specific program. The guides arrive around 9 p.m. with night vision goggles for you to view the animals. This is a great experience, wew did it each night with my family DW,DD9 and DS6. When I was back for a convention, I went to dinner at Boma and visited the savannah again after dinner. You will have a great time.

It is really cool and when we showed up, there were no others around. A guide offered to give our family a "private" night vision tour and took us all around the resort pointing out really neat things. At the end, she gave us a Magical Moments Certificate. It was fun and one of my DS12's highlights of our trip. If you ask a lot of questions, they are full of great info.!

We did this in 12/06 & both nights the CM didn't show up until almost 9:45! The CM also only had 2 pair of goggles that we had to share between 5 people, so the kids were antsy (and over-tired), and there wasn't much animal activity to watch. I will try it again next time though!

It is pretty amazing, just go out to the pool and look for the sign - it will point you in the direction of the night viewing.
